The April Fools Event 2022 is a 24-hour event held on April 1, 2022 in celebration of April Fools' Day. The event was later released to international servers on April 1st, 2023.

Once the event ended, all posts on official Project SEKAI accounts regarding the event were either deleted or made private.

" The VIRTUAL SINGERS have wandered into a place that looks just like Shibuya, where various encounters beyond the SEKAI seem to be born... But, it seems they're not the only ones affected by the mysterious phenomenon...? Please enjoy the slightly different Project SEKAI today. "

The April Fools 2022 story takes place in a different version of Shibuya from an alternate world where the events of the Main Story do not happen. The VIRTUAL SINGERS from "our SEKAI" travel to this world and talk to the alternate forms of themselves. Meanwhile, the main characters from this version of Shibuya are forming units different to the ones we know.

Each April Fools unit received a cover and 2DMV of an existing song. The covers are only available in-game for the event period.

After the event ended, the YouTube uploads of the 2DMVs were made private. In honor of the Project SEKAI YouTube channel reaching 1 Million subscribers, the 2DMVs were re-released permanently.^[1]^[2]
