Shimoda Asami (下田 麻美) is a voice actress, actress and singer from Tottori Prefecture, Japan. She provided the samples for Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len's voicebanks. She is affiliated with Arts Vision.

Background[]

When Asami was in second grade, she wanted to work at a pet shop because of her love for animals. However although she vaguely remembers she might have been influenced by Sailor Moon, she eventually realized in fourth grade that she wants to become a seiyuu.[1]

Asami attended Japan Narration Actor Institute (NichiNare) and then successfully passed "Arts Vision's Newcomer Training Audition" and became affiliated with them.

Asami starred in her first radio show at the age of 16, while she was still attending high school. In 2005, she debuted as voice actress with the roles of Futami Ami and Mami in the arcade game THE iDOLM@STER, a role which she auditioned for when she was 17-years-old.[2]

In 2007, she sampled her voice for Kagamine Rin and Len, two VOCALOID2 voicebanks by Crypton Future Media.

In June 2009, she released her first solo album Prism, a cover collection of Rin/Len songs.

On December 26, 2017, Asami announced her marriage on her blog to a man outside the industry. She gave birth to her first child, a boy, on August 9, 2021.[3]

  • Asami's hobbies and skills include doing impersonations, shopping and writing lyrics. She also enjoys traveling.
  • Due to being born in Tottori Prefecture, she can speak the Tottori dialect.
  • Some of Asami's favorite artists are Kuwata Keisuke, Ozaki Yutaka and Southern All Stars, and one of her favorite music genres is enka.
  • Her motto is "Everything has a meaning."
