Awkward Tea Time

Side Story 1

Kanade's Bedroom
Kanade: Okay, this should work for the first verse...
Kanade: That just leaves the interlude before the chorus... I think I left my notes for that somewhere...
Kanade: Oops...
Kanade: There goes my pile of sheet music.
Kanade: Come to think of it, I started putting them on the floor after running out of space in my desk.
Kanade: They can stay on my bed for now. That should give me some extra leg room...
Kanade: Now, those notes... Oh, here they are.
Kanade: And it's 25:00. I guess this can wait until after I finish talking with everyone.
Kanade: <Hello? Is everyone here?>
Mizuki: <Yup.>
Ena: <Hi, K!>
Mafuyu: <Hello.>
Kanade: <Okay, good... Oh, Yuki, how do you feel now?>
Mafuyu: <Better. My fever's gone and I've gotten my strength back.>
Kanade: <That's good to hear...>
Ena: <I still can't believe you got that sick. I mean, get up at a normal time, eat right and seem to live a pretty healthy lifestyle overall.>
Ena: <I just can't figure out why, you know...? Did you go to bed one night without drying your hair or something?>
Mizuki: <She isn't you, Enanan. I really can't see Yuki doing something like that...>
Ena: <What's that supposed to mean? I make sure to dry my hair every night. If I don't, it becomes catastrophic the next day.>
Mafuyu: <So it's happened before?>
Ena: <Well, yeah. When I'm really tired and stuff.>
Kanade: <Are you saying that your bedhead is that bad?>
Ena: <Yeah, it kind of is... Has that ever happened to you before, K?>
Kanade: <Not as far as I can remember.>
Mizuki: <I'm just wondering if you actually dry your hair after baths and stuff, K.>
Kanade: <Oh, I make sure to dry it enough to prevent it from dripping water everywhere...>
Mizuki: <But you just let nature take its course after that?>
Kanade: <Yes. I don't really like using a blow dryer.>
Ena: <Yeah, that would be a pain considering how long your hair is... How about you, Yuki?>
Mafuyu: <I make sure to dry my hair.>
Ena: <Then, that's not what caused all this.>
Mizuki: <Maybe it was just stress from being too busy?>
Mizuki: <Usually, you log off before the rest of us, but lately, you've been staying later than me and Enanan.>
Kanade: <That's right. You've been up working late these past few days.>
Mizuki: <And you have club and stuff during the day at school, right? Plus, cram school on weekends.>
Ena: <Yeah, it's like you're busy 24/7...>
Ena: <Are you getting enough sleep?>
Mafuyu: <I usually take a nap before logging into Nightcord and sleep after that... So, five hours a night...?>
Ena: <Wait, that's it?!>
Mizuki: <That's about how long I sleep too... Oh, but I do fall back asleep a lot, so I guess I end up getting like seven hours in...>
Mizuki: <Still, Yuki, your schedule's completely packed, so is five hours a night really enough?>
Mafuyu: <I've never thought about that or really ever cared...>
Ena: <Geez...>
Kanade: <Yuki, we know how much energy it takes to do what we do, so it's okay to take breaks from time to time. We don't want the same thing happening again.>
Mafuyu: <That doesn't mean much coming from you, K...>
Kanade: <Huh?>
Ena: <I agree...>
Mizuki: <Yeah. So how about it, K? How much sleep do you usually get?>
Kanade: <Um...>
Kanade: <Sometimes I'll try to get myself to sleep, but I usually just fall asleep at my desk...>
Mafuyu: <Does that mean you don't know?>
Kanade: <Yes...>
Mizuki: <Yeah, you're not exactly the best person to ask in this situation.>
Ena: <Please, K, get some real sleep in, okay?>
Kanade: <O-Okay...>
Kanade: (I was going to start leaving sheet music on my bed...)
Kanade: (But I guess I should clear it off and use it for its intended purpose.)

Side Story 2

Kanade’s Room
Kanade: Hm? A chat notification...? From Mafuyu...?
Mafuyu: <K, what are you doing now?>
Kanade: Um... <I'm working on our song.>
Mafuyu: <Okay.>
Kanade: ...
Kanade: (No response... Am I forgetting something?)
Kanade: For now, I should just get back to work and...
Kanade: Oh, Ms. Mochizuki...
Kanade: No, wait... She isn't supposed to be here until the day after tomorrow.
Kanade: Nothing I ordered online is scheduled to arrive today...
Kanade: Oh, I'm coming...!

Yoisaki Household - Kitchen
Kanade: Thank you for your patience...
Kanade: M-Mafuyu...?!
Mafuyu: This is a thank you for the other day.
Kanade: Huh...? Oh, instant noodles and apples...?
Mafuyu: Yes.
Kanade: Th-Thank you. You came all this way to bring me these?
Mafuyu: There's that and...
Mafuyu: I may've left my student ID in your room, Kanade. Would you mind if I tried looking for it?
Kanade: Yes, of course... It's a bit messy right now but...
Mafuyu: I didn't notice the other day, but you keep so many things in here...
Kanade: Yes, I do. I hope we find your ID...
Mafuyu: You haven't seen it?
Kanade: No, I don't think so. I usually only ever look at sheet music, so nothing like that has caught my eye.
Mafuyu: Still, your room really is a mess...
Kanade: ...
Mafuyu: Can I take a look?
Kanade: Yes, I'll help too.
Kanade: Come to think of it, I'm surprised that you remembered where I live. You really looked awful when I brought you over that time.
Mafuyu: I don't remember what happened between the park and here, but my mind was much clearer when I headed home...
Kanade: Yes, I see... Oh...
Kanade: Is this it, Mafuyu?
Mafuyu: Yes... Thank you.
Kanade: Thank goodness we found it so quickly.
Kanade: Oh, I'm sorry. You're the guest here. I should offer to pour you some tea...
Mafuyu: Oh...
Mafuyu: That's okay, really...
Kanade: Let's see... How does Ms. Mochizuki usually prepare her tea?
Kanade: Start by putting a kettle on...
Kanade: Wait, I think she warms up the cups with hot water... That means I have to boil some water first and...
Mafuyu: Kanade, why don't you put those down for now? I'd hate to see you drop those cups.
Kanade: Huh? Oh, right.
Mafuyu: ...
Kanade: (She keeps staring at me... Is something bothering her?)
Kanade: Next, I need to put some tea leaves in the pot... Three scoops, I think?
Mafuyu: You should bring that teapot closer to yourself. If you don't, you'll spill the tea.
Kanade: Hm? Oh, okay. One... Two... And three.
Kanade: Oh, the water's boiling. Now I need to warm up the cups...
Mafuyu: You don't have to go that far. This tea also tastes better when it's steeped in very hot water.
Kanade: Oh, I see. Then I should pour it in now. Where'd my teapot go...?
Mafuyu: Kanade. You don't need to hold the kettle in one hand and the teapot in the other. You'll burn yourself.
Kanade: Oh, that's right. I don't think I've ever seen Ms. Mochizuki do that.
Mafuyu: If you pour too much, it'll spill out...
Kanade: Huh? R-Right. It's just the two of us, so I guess I don't need to make that much.
Kanade: (Was I having that much trouble...?)
Kanade: Here you are, Mafuyu. It's very hot, so please be careful...
Mafuyu: Thank you.
Kanade: Huh?! M-Mafuyu, I just said that it's still really hot...!
Mafuyu: I'll be fine.
Kanade: Won't you burn your tongue...? You should wait until it's cooled down a little.
Mafuyu: Okay. *Blow*
Kanade: ...
Kanade: This tea's flavored too. It's supposed to smell and taste like apples...
Mafuyu: I see...
Kanade: I guess you still can't tell yet...
Kanade: (I hope someday that Mafuyu gets to enjoy these things the way the rest of us do...)
