Side Story 1

Mafuyu's Room
Mafuyu: ...
Ena's Message: <I really appreciate the concern you've all shown for me, but like I said in SEKAI, I'm gonna keep trying.>
Mafuyu: Ena...
Mizuki's Message: <Yeah, you've got this. We believe in you, Ena!>
Kanade's Message: <Tomorrow probably won't be easy for you, so please, try to get some rest.>
Mafuyu: ...
Mafuyu: <Try not to oversleep. Good night.>
Mafuyu: <Are you going to keep working, K?>
Kanade: <Yes, I'll stay. The demo for the next song is almost done.>
Mizuki: <Alright... If you're staying, K, I'll keep doing what I can on my end too.>
Mafuyu: <When do you think she'll finish her illustration...?>
Kanade: <I don't know...>
Kanade: <But we shouldn't release this song without a music video.>
Mafuyu: <Because having a music video makes it more accessible...?>
Kanade: <Yes. As we discussed before, how our songs are interpreted by others can vary wildly based on whether or not we release them with music videos.>
Kanade: <Right now, N25's music absolutely needs both Enanan's art and Amia's videos.>
Mizuki: <K...>
Kanade: <Not only that... They've helped me quite a lot already.>
Mafuyu: <Huh?>
Mizuki: <What do you mean?>
Kanade: <There are still times when I'm not sure if the songs I compose include 100% of what I'm trying to express or convey...>
Mizuki: <Wait, really?>
Kanade: <Yes. It happens often with demos. I usually end up asking myself, "This doesn't seem right. What am I missing?">
Kanade: <That's usually when I take a look at Yuki's lyrics, your storyboards, Amia, or Enanan's art.>
Kanade: <When I do, that's when a lightbulb goes off in my head, and end up saying, "Oh, that's it...">
Mafuyu: <What we do fills that void...?>
Kanade: <Yes, that's right. Does that ever happen to you, Yuki?>
Mafuyu: <On occasion...>
Mizuki: <Now that you mention it, you made some changes at the last minute for our most recent song.>
Mafuyu: <I did. I made those changes after seeing the illustration for that song.>
Mafuyu: <But Enanan said, "Why'd you change that part? I actually kinda liked it.">
Kanade: <Oh, that's right.>
Mizuki: <Yeah, seeing Enanan go on her tirade after that was pretty funny.>
Kanade: <She must've felt so conflicted. She drew that illustration based on lyrics that she liked, but those lyrics ended up changing because of her.>
Mizuki: <I know, right? At the same time, those changes were for the better, so I heard some joy mixed in with her anger.>
Mafuyu: <Enanan was so hard to deal with that day.>
Mizuki: <Haha! I definitely don't recommend saying that to her face, Yuki.>
Mafuyu: <I won't. I know it'll just make things worse.>
Kanade: <...>
Kanade: <Still, this is why I think Enanan has more of an effect on us than she realizes...>
Mafuyu: <I agree...>
Mafuyu: <Our videos usually go up late because Enanan takes so much time with her illustrations.>
Mizuki: <Whoa, time out! Another big no-no!!>
Mafuyu: <I know.>
Kanade: <To her credit, Enanan's usually late because she always says, "I can still do a little better.">
Mizuki: <Yeah, it's never because she's out slacking off or doing something else...>
Mizuki: <She just keeps trying and trying to make it as good as possible.>
Kanade: <Exactly. People like us have the option of thinking, "That's good," or, "That'll do.">
Kanade: <Chiefly because there's no real "right answer" in terms of what we do.>
Mafuyu: <No one knows the right answer. You just have to keep going until you're satisfied.>
Kanade: <Right...>
Kanade: <But just waiting around doesn't feel right...>
Mafuyu: <I disagree. Don't you think we owe Enanan at least that...?>
Kanade: <Huh?>
Mafuyu: <No matter what happens, she always finds a way to create something that works for us in the end.>
Kanade: <Hehe. That's true too...>
Mizuki: <Yup♪ Nice one, Yuki!>
Mafuyu: <Is it? I was just talking about what's happened in the past.>
Mizuki: <Anyway, I'm gonna keep looking for materials that match Yuki's lyrics♪>
Kanade: <I'll keep working on the demo I had us all hear in SEKAI.>
Mafuyu: <I'll go back to working too. Talk to you later.>

Side Story 2

25:00:00
Mafuyu's Room
Mafuyu: Oh, it's time... I should log in soon.
Ena: <Hey, Yuki. I just posted my rough draft to chat. Mind taking a look at it?>
Mafuyu: <Your rough draft...?>
Ena: <For our song's illustration. It's finally done.>
Kanade: <We were just about to look at it too.>
Mafuyu: <Okay, I'll do the same...>
Ena: <So... What do you think...?>
Kanade: <I think it's good...>
Ena: <...!>
Mizuki: <Yeah, me too. It's way easier to tell what you're trying to say compared to before!>
Ena: <Y-Yuki... What do you think?>
Mafuyu: <I think... It's easier to understand...>
Mafuyu: (In terms of composition, both sketches are very similar, but this one just feels better overall.)
Mafuyu: (It was a mess before, but her use of space for the subject and other objects seems much more correct now too...)
Mafuyu: (At the same time...)
Ena: <That includes you too, Yuki. Don't pull any punches, okay?>
Mafuyu: <I won't.>
Mafuyu: ...
Mafuyu: <It feels better over all, but you went overboard when it came to working in these motifs to represent the lyrics.>
Mizuki: <Oh, that crossed my mind too...>
Ena: <Grr... I was really careful about that too...>
Ena: <But I felt the same thing. Maybe I should cut back on those a little.>
Kanade: <No, wait. I actually kind of like it the way it is.>
Ena: <Huh?>
Kanade: <I agree that it's a bit all over the place, but each of these elements play an important role in this song.>
Kanade: <I'd like it if we could make this work somehow.>
Mafuyu: <Make this work...?>
Mafuyu: <What if you made it easier to differentiate between the motifs for the first and second verses?>
Ena: <Yeah... Wait, hang on. That still ends up with me having to remove stuff.>
Kanade: <True...>
Kanade: <But to be honest, the chorus still doesn't feel complete to me, so I want to try adding a little more sound...>
Kanade: <I'm thinking that it'd be nice to have a denser sound to go along with some sort of effect for the illustration.>
Mizuki: <I see...>
Mizuki: <Alright, it's gonna take more materials than usual, but what if we split your draft into three layers...?>
Ena: <Three layers?>
Mizuki: <Yeah. We could have one for the motifs from the first verse and another for the second verse like Yuki said...>
Mizuki: <And have them all appear at once on the last layer!>
Ena: <Oh, that might actually be pretty good.>
Mizuki: <Pretty good?! It's gonna look awesome!>
Mizuki: <Like when the main character from a manga goes to fight the final boss with their friends!>
Mafuyu: <Is that so...?>
Ena: <Sorry, Amia, I don't really get it either.>
Mizuki: <Seriously?!>
Mafuyu: <In any case, you should rethink how many of these motifs you include where...>
Mafuyu: <As it stands, it's too much to process.>
Ena: <Okay, I get it. You don't have to rub salt in my wounds!>
Ena: <But Yuki... Can we chat for a minute after this? I thought it might be easier if we talked about your lyrics and discussed how we're both going to make changes.>
Mafuyu: <Okay.>
Kanade: <Alright, Enanan, Yuki, you two can take care of how to divide up this draft into three layers.>
Mizuki: <I'm good with that too! Man, this is gonna be so amazing!>
Ena: <Don't forget that we have to make a bunch of fixes first.>
Mafuyu: <But you're going to do them since it'll look better in the end, right...?>
Ena: <Huh? Is that even a question?>
Ena: <Hm? Hey, what's going on? Someone say something.>
Kanade: <Oh, it's nothing. Why don't we get back to work now?>
Mizuki: <Let's do it♪ See you two later, Enanan, Yuki♪>
Ena: <Hm...? Well, whatever... Anyway, Yuki, you ready?>
Mafuyu: <Yes...>
