Events are a period of time in which new cards, gacha, story, title and after live is released. Players can also earn event points to advance further on the leaderboard, and earn event badges to buy items in the event shop.
Events are typically released at 3:00pm and end at 8:59pm of the server's respective timezone (JST, CST, PDT/PST, KST), and can last from 7-9 days. World Link events are an exception, as they start at 8:00pm and end at 7:59 pm.
Type
Events can either be a Marathon, Cheerful Carnival, or World Link event. During this period, players can change their energy usage up to 10x for a higher bonus (unlike the usual 5x).
Marathon
In Marathon events, Solo, Multi, or Challenge Lives can be played to earn event badges, which can be used in the event exchange.
Cheerful Carnival
In Cheerful Carnival (CC) events, players choose from one of two teams to represent and verse against the other throughout the event. Introduced since Singing Among the Cherry Blossoms, Cheerful Carnivals often occur at the end of the month, happening after every two Marathon events.
Replacing Multi Lives, Cheerful Lives take five players from the same team to form a group and are matched against another group of five. This group is often from the opposing side, however you can match up with a group from the same team if matchmaking is slow. The song played is randomly selected, and both groups compete to earn a higher score than the other.
Players are able to change their team once during the event, before the first benchmark occurs (and rewards are given out).
If players are matched against the opposing team, the winner and loser earn 2 and 1 points respectively for their team. If players are matched with the same team, no team points are earned.
There is a random chance for a 10x or 100x bonus to be applied, meaning 20 and 10, or 200 and 100, points can be earned.
Multi Live groups are also given cosmetic group names, autogenerated according to the characters in the group. If the group has been formed through a room code or inviting friends, the group's name can also be customised.
Throughout the event, updates and rewards are given depending on which team has more points than the other team. There are three large benchmarks in which rewards are released. In the first two benchmarks, 3 Small Energy Cans are awarded to the leading team, whereas the lagging team gets 2. In the final benchmark, the leading team is awarded 200 crystals and the losing team gets 150.
Currently, the last Cheerful Carnival to be held to date is Wedding Live ♡ With Everyone! on the JP server and Hello to a New Day! on the KR and TW servers. This is due to Colorful Palette not being able to find a way to fix the Cheerful Carnival format, and it is unknown when this event type will return. As a result, all events (excluding World Links) will be hosted as Marathon events.
World Link

World Link event visual
World Link events are split into four chapters, each dedicated to a boost character, which is usually in the unit featured. Unlike the other event types, World Link events start at 8:00pm and end at 7:59pm of the server's respective timezone, and last for 12 days. Each chapter lasts for 3 days (except for With You, at the SEKAI's Beginning where each chapter lasts for 2 days due to being split for 6 chapters), starting and ending at these timings.
In addition to overall event rankings and an overall event exchange, each chapter includes its own event rankings and event exchange. Event badges earned during each chapter are unique to that chapter, and can be exchanged for general event badges.
Players are able to build a Main Unit and a Support Unit using their cards. While the Main Unit is applied for the whole event, a Support Unit of twelve cards maximum can be built for each chapter of the event.
Cards used in the Main Unit cannot be used again in the Support Unit. Multiple cards of the same character can be used in Support Units. Additionally, Support Units only impact the event bonus; they do not impact the score obtained from gameplay.
Gacha and Cards
- For a list of event gachas, see Event Gacha.
A new gacha is released alongside the event, releasing a set of 3 or 4 new cards (featured cards).
Most featured cards come with a costume, used to customise the character's appearance in 3DMVs. By increasing the mastery rank to levels 1, 3 and 5, variations of the costume can also be unlocked.
After each event, the featured cards are added to the gacha pool, meaning they can be obtained again in the future.
From Smile of a Dreamer onwards, gachas can be limited, meaning featured cards with costumes will not be added to the gacha pool. The only other way to obtain limited cards are from limited gacha reruns.
In addition to a costume, a character's hairstyle can be unlocked at the second mastery rank for limited cards.
Typically, limited gachas run at the same time as Cheerful Carnivals.
Gachas for World Link events are unit-limited, meaning its featured cards will only be available in future unit-related gachas. For example, a unit-limited Leo/need card will only be available in future Leo/need gachas. (Unit-limited VIRTUAL SINGER cards will only be available in future mixed event gachas and VIRTUAL SINGER-only gachas.)
Unit limited cards also include an exclusive 3DMV scene, unlockable at the second mastery rank. The scene is triggered if the card is on the player's team and if the correct image unit song 3DMV is played.
Leaderboard
After shows, players earn event points (EP) and advance further on the leaderboard.
The amount of event points earnt after each show depends on the player's event bonus, game mode (AUTO, Solo Multi, or Challenge Lives), energy used, and team talent.
Event Bonus
During an event, an event bonus is applied to the player's card team depending on the attribute, characters, rarities and mastery ranks of their cards. Generally, the higher the event bonus of the cards, the more event points the player will earn after shows.
Marathon and Cheerful Carnivals
From Scramble Fan Festival! onwards, featured cards also give an additional 70% event bonus.

Players can also earn event badges and use the badges to purchase items from the event shop, including event cards and upgrade materials. Story
- For a list of event stories, see Event Stories.
A new story, usually 8 episodes long, is released with each event.
In Marathon and Cheerful Carnival events, the first episode of the event story can be read, before requiring more event points to unlock and read the rest of the episodes.
In World Link events, story episodes are released and segmented according to the event chapters. For example, if the event is within its second chapter, the story up until the second chapter is available to read. Story episodes are not unlocked based on player's event points.
After Live
- For a list of Virtual Lives, including After Lives, see Virtual Live List.
After the event has finished, the associated Virtual Live (After Live) of the event becomes available to watch.
