Iori[]

CV: Sasamoto Natsue

Iori Live2D Model

Iori (イオリ) is the leader and vocalist of the professional band STANDOUT. She has grey eyes and dark brown hair with the under-layer dyed blonde. She wears a white hoodie with STANDOUT written in simple print, a short black skirt, and a slightly-oversized grey jacket. She is 19 years old. Her hobbies include visiting vintage clothes stores, her favorite food is chocolate banana crepes, and her least favorite food is spicy things.

While her debut was in the Don't Let Doubts Hold You Back event story, she only appeared at the very end, serving to tease the Musical Twilight Parade event story. Shiho runs into Iori at the live house the former works at. Iori recognizes Shiho, saying she frequents the live house and has seen her perform as a replacement bassist. Iori then asks Shiho to join her band as their bass player, confirming a rumor that STANDOUT was looking to replace their current bass player.

As teased, Iori makes a return at the beginning of the Musical Twilight Parade event story, asking Shiho once again to join her band. Shiho reveals that, after Iori's previous appearance, Shiho refused the offer, as she states that her answer hasn't changed.

In the Resonating with you event story, Shiho plays as STANDOUT's replacement bassist, causing the other members of Leo/need to discover Iori's attempts to recruit Shiho. As STANDOUT's current bassist, Mio, flakes on the group once again, Shiho agrees to play at their debut if Mio doesn't show. As Leo/need attempt to convey their feelings to Shiho, Iori allows them to prove themselves as the openers for STANDOUT.

Mio first debuted in the Resonating with you event story. After asking Shiho to play as the replacement bassist for STANDOUT at the live house Shiho works at, she appears again to apologize for flaking. She tells Shiho that she's scared of disappointing Iori and the others as they take the plunge from amateur to professional musicians, which is why Iori was looking for a new bassist. After Shiho convinces her to continue doing what she loves, Mio returns to STANDOUT and plays at their debut show.

Yoshizaki Hanano[]

CV: Sashide Maria

Hanano Live2D Model

Yoshizaki Hanano (吉崎花乃) is Youta's little sister who first debuted in the Live with Memories event story. She is currently 14 years old. Her hobbies include solo karaoke, her favorite food is cheese hamburg steaks, and her least favorite food is cauliflower.

She first came across Leo/need when Youta brought her to a live house to cheer her up from the depressing reality that their parents had just gotten divorced. She quickly became a fan from there, and the two of them sit in the front row of many of their lives.

The divorce split custody over the siblings such that she lives with their father. Since she's only in middle school, Youta worries for her wellbeing often. Heeding Youta's request to watch over her while he can't be around, Ichika rescues Hanano from pushy solicitors when they stumble across her alone on the street one day.

She and Youta are very close, often caring for each other while their parents fight and worrying about each other's home situations. Fearing the loss of this bond, she refused to acquaint herself with the new family that her father remarried to under the belief that it would push her brother to become distant. This, however, drove Youta to worry after her and formally end their meet-ups until she has gotten more familiar with them. Since he is unable to convey his reasoning for this, she comes to the conclusion that he's angry with her, a misunderstanding that Leo/need clarifies for her. Both siblings struggle with the concept of permanent separation, thinking that their lives would naturally diverge forever from the first point of lost contact.

This theme of separation strikes a chord with Ichika who relates it back to the loneliness she felt when Leo/need became estranged for 2 years prior to Main Story. Unable to weigh in on what is essentially a family's personal matters but wanting to help, Leo/need then resolves to at least gift a live to the siblings, encouraging Hanano to bring her brother along one more time to watch it together. They decide to write a new song for them and Ichika creates lyrics dedicated to the theme of coping from the misery of separation. When the siblings hear the song, they are flooded with warm memories of how they've supported each other.

At the end of the event, she and Youta resolve that they won't separate forever and will watch lives together again once she has managed to bridge the gap with her new family members.

Youta Live2D Model

Yoshizaki Youta (吉崎葉太) is Hanano's older brother who first debuted in the Live with Memories event story. He is currently 16 years old. His hobbies include watching baseball, his favorite food is kimchi hot pot, and his least favorite food is mekabu seaweed.

He first came across Leo/need's lives when he brought Hanano to a live house in order to cheer her up from the depressing reality that their parents had just gotten divorced. He quickly became a fan after that, and the two of them sit in the front row of many of their lives.

The divorce split custody over the siblings such that they live separately.[1] He and Hanano are very close, often caring for each other while their parents fight and worrying about each other's home situations. Youta is also shown to generally worry after his sister's wellbeing. He asks Leo/need to talk to his sister for him to ensure she stays safe at the live houses even if he can’t continue to accompany her.

Youta also blames himself for Hanano's inability to acquaint with the new family her father remarried to, thinking that it's because he takes up too much of her time and affection. He thus decides to stop meeting up with her at all in order to give her the space necessary to bond with them. Youta is, however, not very adept at conveying his reasoning for the cessation to his sister, and she angrily runs away from the conversation before he can tell her. Both siblings struggle with concept of permanent separation, thinking that their lives would naturally diverge forever from the first point of lost contact.

This theme of separation strikes a chord with Ichika, who relates it back to the loneliness she felt when Leo/need became estranged for 2 years prior to Main Story.

At the end of the event, Youta proposes that they only cut correspondence off until she gets closer to her new family and that they should watch another live together once that happens.

Just like the rest of her band members, she is aiming to become a professional, and they are constantly scouted by agencies. She is quite blunt and harshly criticized Leo/need's music when Saki asked for her opinion, even to the point of her own band members telling her to stop. Saku stated their songs were cute but they didn't resonate with her at all, and how the audience at the livehouse both of their bands performed at doesn't want "Leo/need's music".

Angered at her condition, Mai blamed Haruka for giving her false hope, since now she has lost everything. Haruka was heavily impacted by Mai's words and thought that she was not worthy to be an idol. After that, Haruka was unable to perform onstage and left the idol industry, refusing to form a group with the other members of MORE MORE JUMP! before regaining her confidence when Mai apologized to her. Shouta is later mentioned during At This Festival Bathed in Twilight where he reached out to Akito again to offer him a slot to perform at Shibuya Festa. Thus, Shouta was responsible for arranging the first non-live house venues for Vivid BAD SQUAD to perform as a group. Akito later runs into Shouta after the live while looking for souvenirs with Len and feels awkward about the long period of no communication.[2] So, he then takes the initiative to tell Shouta that he'd be open to hearing from him about gigs should any future opportunities arise, making the first step toward them rekindling their friendship.[2]

Asahi Live2D Model

Genbu Asahi (玄武旭) first debuted in the A Sad Farewell at the Curtain Call event story when Phoenix Wonderland and Tokyo Arkland perform a cultural exchange to put on a publicity show together. He is a world-famous actor and the first cast member invited to perform at Tokyo Arkland's famed "CENTER THEATRE." His hobbies include creating picture books for children, his favorite food is meat, and his least favorite food is sauerkraut.

When he was in elementary school, Asahi lived overseas in a war-torn country with extremely low life-security. Under life-threatening circumstances, Asahi found himself separated from his parents and became a refugee at an evacuation center near his nation's border. It was there that he met Tom Gray, a famed director and major inspiration of Rui's, while Tom was visiting from a next-door country to volunteer at the center. Tom became Asahi's hero and inspiration after putting on a show for the refugee kids which not only reunited him with his parents but inspired him to pursue acting. His life goal now aligns with THE CENTER THEATRE's as well as Rui's in that he wants to put on a show that "brings the world together," one that anyone, regardless of quality of life or identity, can enjoy.

During the events of his debut event, Asahi attempts to scout Rui to work as Arkland's director since he recognizes his talents and they share very similar dreams. Rui then struggles over the choice to either accept a once-in-a-lifetime offer to pursue his dream or remain with his friends and ultimately finds that he cannot give up the chance. However, when he attempts to accept the offer, Asahi notices the sad look on Rui's face as he speaks and recognizes that, for Rui, working with his friends must be extremely meaningful to him. Seeing this, Asahi retracts his offer and says that he'll contact Rui again about it after he graduates high school.

Both Tomomi and Rui would independently derive the problem from his hint.

Not much else is known about him, and his name is not currently revealed, but he debuted fully voiced and with a Live2D model, suggesting a further interaction with Rui in a future event. He (credited as Sakaki ()) and his CV were added to the in-game credits.

Kanade's Father[]

CV: Usami Wataru

Kanade Dad Live2D Model

Kanade's father made his first appearance in 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s Main Story. He was an independent musician who made a living through music composition commissions. He was the one who initially inspired Kanade to compose music. He is currently 46 years old. His hobbies include watching movies, his favorite food is boiled eggplants, and his least favorite foods are crab and shrimp.

When Kanade was in junior high, her father entered a music competition. Despite his best efforts, he struggled to find satisfaction with his piece. Kanade, seeing this frustration, came up with a section he was lacking, bringing the whole piece together within seconds, to her father's surprise and awe. This song eventually won the competition. However, it was only Kanade's section that earned the attention of the judges. This bothered him, and the feeling only grew as commissioners in the following months only asked for pieces that sounded like Kanade's section, rather than his own work. He became increasingly stressed as he attempted to produce something that sounded similar to Kanade's music.

One night, Kanade came into his room, having written a song for him. Upon playing it, her father was shaken, realizing in that moment that his music isn't what modern people need, and that he could never touch the hearts of others with his songs. He then told Kanade to keep creating music, since her music would undoubtedly help people. The next day, Kanade found her father collapsed in his room and unresponsive. At the hospital, the doctors said he collapsed from fatigue, and that he should be able to recover. However, he also suffered from severe burnout, making it difficult for him to remember things properly, without a clear time when he would recover from this psychological damage.

Currently, he is still in care at the hospital, slowly recovering from his memory problems. Kanade visits him weekly. He spoke for the first time in Carnation Recollection, and although he did not recognize Kanade, he was able to hold a conversation with her.

Mafuyu's Mother[]

CV: Toyoguchi Megumi

Mafuyu Mom Live2D Model

Mafuyu's mother was first featured in the 25-ji, Nightcord de. Main Story. Her Live2D model and voice were introduced for the first time in immiscible discord. She is currently 41 years old. Her hobbies include cooking, her favorite food is cake, and her least favorite food is junk food.

Mafuyu's mother is a full-time housewife who is admired by her husband and neighbors for being "an exemplary mother." She is insistent on her daughter going down a path she believes is best for her, encouraging her to study and become a doctor, not knowing Mafuyu's dream to become a nurse instead. Mafuyu's mother distrusts Nightcord, who she believes are simply strangers on the internet trying to stray Mafuyu away from her intended path. Mafuyu hides her true feelings from her mother, and therefore the two rarely communicate effectively with one another.

In the Our Escape for Survival event, after her meeting with Kanade in 'immiscible discord', Mafuyu's mother starts becoming even more restrictive in order to keep Mafuyu away from her groupmates by "accidentally" breaking her laptop and throwing away her synthesizer, saying that "having the synthesizer around will make it harder for you to focus on studying", and how Mafuyu earlier said she was planning to quit making music either way. She also tries to take Mafuyu's phone away in Saying Goodbye to My Masked Self due to her grades dropping, but this instead leads to her phone getting broken after it falls into Mafuyu's aquarium. This event is also where she finds about Mafuyu's true feelings and desire of wanting to become a nurse instead of a doctor, yet still tries to convince her daughter to continue on a path that would make her more successful.

Mafuyu's Father[]

CV: Shingaki Tarusuke

Mafuyu Dad Live2D Model

Mafuyu's father. Similarly to her mother, he made his first appearance in 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s Main Story. Prior to his proper introduction in the Searching for a Reflection Beneath the Waters event, it was mainly mentioned that he is a working man who is constantly busy with business trips. He is the one who also brought Mafuyu's synthesizer for her.

Like Mafuyu's mother, he is oblivious to Mafuyu's inner struggles, and him being busy at work has led to him being somewhat absent from her life. In his debut event, he attempts to persuade Mafuyu to return home, but upon seeing how much pain she is in, he apologizes to her for not realizing how much she has suffered at the hands of her mother's expectations, and asks if Kanade could keep taking care of her for a bit longer.

Shinonome Shinei[]

CV: Hoshino Takanori

Shinonome Dad Live2D Model

Shinonome Shinei (東雲慎英) is Ena and Akito's father. He is a professional artist, and was Ena's inspiration to take up art. While he made an appearance in 25-ji, Nightcord de.'s Main Story, he had no model and was unvoiced. His true debut was in the Insatiable Pale Color event story. He is currently 48 years old. His hobbies include camping with his family, and he shares the same favorite and least favorite foods as his children (pancakes and cheesecake, and carrots).

When Ena was in junior high, she told her father about her desire to become an artist after coming home from school one day. His response was cold, saying that Ena did not have the talent needed to become an artist, and would never gain recognition for her work. Feeling betrayed, Ena declared to him that she would become a great artist even without his support, and ran off. This incident deeply affected their relationship, which has been strained ever since.

In the Insatiable Pale Color event story, Ena finds a flyer her father left at home for an art contest. Unsure of whether to participate, she abruptly decides to enter when her father says she would not have a chance at winning. Some days later, when Ena receives a rejection letter from the contest judges, her father tries to speak with her after she had read the letter. He tells Ena that if she is going to be an artist, she will feel the sting of failure again and again, and that she will have to work harder than she can imagine if she wishes to be on par with the talented. Ena takes it very badly, but her father leaves before she can respond. That night, after Ena has a meltdown and runs off to the Empty SEKAI, Akito confronts their father over his words.

His intentions truly were to look out for Ena, as he experienced firsthand how cruel and unforgiving the world of art was. Due to his experiences, he firmly believes that any potential artist will have to continue struggling and creating without an end in sight in order to find recognition. Deep down he really loves his children and was worried that Ena would not be able to handle the pain that came with being an artist, wishing to warn her before she became too committed to turn back. However, as Akito points out, he is unaware of what Ena truly wants, which really was just her father's support. The next day, Ena's father enters her room and comments on her latest work, praising it but pointing out some mistakes, and makes it clear that he took Akito's words to heart.

In the Knowing the Unseen event story, Ena takes up Yukihira's offer to attend a solo exhibition as an extracurricular activity, despite the fact it was her father's exhibition. When looking at her father's paintings, Ena quickly picks up that all his art has a depressing feeling to it, and it was like he was in pain whilst painting. Shortly after, Yukihira arrives and asks Ena what she thought of the paintings. She tells him that she felt they all conveyed a sense of pain, however his painting of a peony was different, and she felt as though he was almost painting "salvation". Yukihira then reveals that his career originally suffered, as no matter how hard he tried no one understood or acknowledged his paintings, and after Ena was born he was considering quitting being an artist.

Surprised by the revelation, Ena decides to talk to her father. She asks him if it he really was going to quit painting when she was born. He affirms her statement, telling her that he did feel like quitting, however the reason behind it was he had never achieved anything as a human being. He stated that Ena's birth was like a light in the darkness that was his life and he knew that he needed to protect her, and decided to paint his last painting. After completing the painting, he then realized that he could not give up painting, as he could never live a life without art.[1] Determined, Ena then tells him that she understands now, and even though she knows she not have talent, she wants to become an artist. She tells him that she too can not stay away from his art, telling him that no matter how painful it is she will not give up. Realizing she is truly determined and her mind is made up, he smiles gently at Ena and accepts it, telling her she can do what she likes.

In Kanade's birthday card story, she manages to remember that her mother would always make her a "special plate" for her birthday which was filled with her favorite foods (such as hamburg steak, spaghetti, gratin, fried shrimp and pudding).

Saneatsu Yukihira[]

Seneatsu Yukihira (雪平実篤) is a famous award-winning art teacher who also knows Ena and Akito's father. He debuted in the On This Blank Canvas, I Paint event story unvoiced and without a model. He hosts an art class that Ena used to attend for over 5 years. He is very blunt and strict, rarely giving out praise and compliments to his students. Ena stopped attending his class after he told her that she was too arrogant, that she shouldn't attend his classes just to get recognition, and that he couldn't sense any desire to grow as an artist from her. During her final lesson, she was unable to draw and as a result got no feedback at all from him, leading to Ena falling in despair and quitting the class without saying anything. 2 years later, Ena decides to attend his 3-day intensive art class, and on the last day, surprises Ena by admitting that he was actually going to give her tips on how to improve, but didn't get the chance to.

Natsuno Futaba[]

She debuted in the On This Blank Canvas, I Paint event story where she was surprised to see Ena after 2 years and happily welcomed her back to the art class. She is a very kind and hardworking girl who admired Ena's art style, complimenting that it's unique and even tried to at one point copy it, but was never able to do it properly. She attends the art school every day and even its workshops in hopes of entering the Tokyo Art University.

Akiyama Yuuki[]

Mizuki Sister Live2D Model

Akiyama Yuuki (暁山優希) is Mizuki's older sister who lives and works overseas. She is currently 22 years old. Her hobbies include collecting cute buttons, her favorite food is Hawaiian pizza, and her least favorite food is beef tongue.

Yuuki is mentioned as early as SEKAI Happy New Year! when Mizuki mentions that their parents went to visit her for New Years. She is mentioned again during Secret Distance, while Mizuki is at the cursed shrine. When Kanade asks about her, Mizuki establishes that while that the two are very close, there is a notable gap in their ages. Yuuki finally debuts unvoiced and without a model through flashbacks and messages in And Now, I Wear This Ribbon. Her voice and model were later added into the game. In Next to the Unchanging Warmth, her name is revealed.

Yuuki is a fashion designer who always wanted to have her own shop. It's not explicitly stated that she has started her own shop yet, but according to Mizuki, she is definitely "active" overseas and capable of producing clothes and accessories, some of which she occasionally gifts to Mizuki. The torso mannequin in Mizuki's room is also a gift from Yuuki.

While Yuuki was aiming for her dream, she ran into significant backlash from the vocational school that she studied at in Japan. The school considered her designs too radical and she was unable to find work. At the same time, however, Mizuki mentions that "the French School" had praised her designs, which implies that the country she's currently working in might be France.

Yuuki moved overseas shortly after Mizuki started their final year of middle school and joined the rest of 25-ji, Nightcord de. She was the one to encourage Mizuki to join the group when Mizuki was worried that doing so may turn out poorly, a fear that developed due to their previous negative experiences with peers. She maintains firm belief in and support for Mizuki. She reassures them that while encountering more failure and unreceptive audiences is a possibility, it's still worthwhile for them to continue to fight, do what they truly like, and look for others that can appreciate and understand them for who they are.

  1. The line he says is "絵のない人生を、歩むことができないのだと", and as Ena's name, "絵名", contains the Kanji "絵", it can be read as a double meaning of him saying that he could never live a life without Ena.
