Good At Cooking?

Side Story 1

One day
Crase Cafe
Rin: Thanks again for another great meal, MEIKO!
Len: Yeah, lunch was amazing! We'll be back again soon!
MEIKO: Of course. Come back any time.
MEIKO: Alright, let's start cleaning up.
Miku: ...
Miku: MEIKO, you always seem to have a big smile on your face whenever we begin or end our meals.
MEIKO: Hehe. I probably do.
MEIKO: I mean, I can't help but smile when I see everyone looking forward to having what I make and really enjoying their food.
Miku: Yes, I see.
Miku: ...
Miku: MEIKO, do you think I can do what you do?
MEIKO: What? You mean cook...?
Miku: Yes, there's that... But I'm also talking about making everyone smile. I want to give it a try.
MEIKO: Huh...? Yes, challenging yourself is always good, but...
MEIKO: (Based on how Miku cooks... She's going to need a lot of practice...)
MEIKO: Um, Miku...?
Miku: I know. This is really sudden and you're not sure what to say.
MEIKO: No, it's not that...
Miku: I've actually been thinking about this for a while now. I'd like to try helping everyone in other ways besides singing.
Miku: I mean, Kohane and the others have been trying to experience new things together, no?
MEIKO: You're serious about this, Miku...?
MEIKO: ... Okay.
MEIKO: I'm prepared to help you.
Miku: ...?
Miku: (I'm the one who wants to help everyone. Why does MEIKO need to prepare herself for that?)
Miku: (Or rather... She may be trying to empathize with me by seeing where I'm coming from...)
Miku: Then, I'd like to start by trying to make that vegetable curry you served us the other day.
MEIKO: Oh, that? Yes, it may be a good place to start.
MEIKO: (The curry powder's already mixed and the vegetables only need to be washed, peeled and chopped into halves or quarters.)
MEIKO: (She should be fine as long as she's careful about how she peels them.)
MEIKO: Then, Miku, shall we get started?
Miku: Yes, let's!

MEIKO: First, we need to prep the vegetables. We'll wash them and...
Miku: Throw them all into the pot.
MEIKO: (Oh dear. And here I was worried about her peeling them...!)
Miku: Oh, I put in the vegetables before filling it with water. I should probably do that first...
MEIKO: Yes, you should, but I recommend you peel them since it'll make the curry have an overall better texture...
Miku: Don't some people include them whole? I remember hearing something about the skin being the most nutritious part...
MEIKO: The area just under the skin to be more precise. So, yes, there are some vegetables that don't need to be peeled...
MEIKO: However, this dish mostly involves vegetables that do require peeling...
Miku: I see. Then, I'll use this knife to...
MEIKO: Let's use the peeler instead! It'll be much easier!
Miku: Hm? I forget how deep an onion's skin actually goes...
Miku: Oh, there's some tomatoes in the fridge. Can I use these?
MEIKO: If you wish to make tomato curry, be my guest..
Miku: Oh, I also heard that chocolate and cinnamon can work as a secret ingredient. I'll toss some in while I'm at it.
MEIKO: Huh...? Wait, Miku! If you throw all of that in...!
Miku: It's already getting full. I must've put in more than I realized. Now, I need to add enough water to submerge them.
MEIKO: Th-This should be plenty! The water in the vegetables should more than make up for what's missing.
Miku: Oh, really? I didn't know that. Thank you, MEIKO.
MEIKO: Haha...

Several dozen minutes later
Miku: It's starting to smell nice... I think it's ready...
Miku: Alright, MEIKO... Mind giving it a taste?
MEIKO: O-Okay...
Miku: Oh, it's good...
MEIKO: Yes, it is! But how...?
MEIKO: (Are all of the ingredients she put in melding together and balancing each other out?)
MEIKO: (What if Miku's actually some sort of genius when it comes to cooking...?)
KAITO: Hm? Something smells nice.
Miku: Oh, KAITO! Good timing! The curry is just about ready. Would you like some?
KAITO: Are we having curry for lunch today?! I'd love to have some!
Miku: Okay, it just needs a little more stirring...
Miku: Hm? My stirring seems to be causing something black to rise up from the bottom...
MEIKO: (What in the world...?! That color... I've got a bad feeling about this...!)
MEIKO: Why don't we just serve what's on top?! I have a feeling that all the flavor is concentrated there!
Miku: Oh, that can happen? Then, okay.
Miku: I feel like I've learned so much from you today, MEIKO. Thank you for doing this.
MEIKO: Y-You're welcome...
MEIKO: (Phew... KAITO narrowly escaped being served something awful...)
Miku: (MEIKO ended up teaching me a lot of things in the end, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of cooking.)
Miku: (Hehe. Next time, I'd like to make some sweets from scratch for Kohane and the others.)

Side Story 2

Street SEKAI
Crase Cafe
Miku: MEIKO, I'm here to use your kitchen. Huh...?
Miku: But she promised to watch as I baked my cupcakes...
MEIKO: What? You want to bake some cupcakes?
Miku: Yes. Since KAITO was nice enough to teach us, I want to try baking some on my own.
Miku: I also want to give something back to Toya for causing him so much trouble and KAITO for teaching me.
Miku: What do you think...?
MEIKO: Okay. You can use the kitchen whenever you like.
Miku: Oh, everything I need to bake my cupcakes is all laid out. Does that mean she remembered...?
Miku: If so, why isn't she here?
Miku: Oh, it must be because of what I said. She prepared everything for me, but is letting me bake them on my own...
Miku: Okay, MEIKO. Message received.
Miku: I promise to bake some delicious cupcakes all by myself...
MEIKO: Miku! Have you already gotten started?!
Miku: Hm?
Miku: I see. You were delivering some food to Luka and Rin.
MEIKO: Yes, I apologize for running late as a result.
Miku: No, that's okay. Anyway, shall we get started?
MEIKO: Hm? Did you bring a notepad?
Miku: I tried remembering what KAITO taught us and wrote down as much as I could.
Miku: Based on this, I first need to...
MEIKO: (Oh, she has all the steps correctly written down... Thank goodness. I didn't actually have the rush back the way I did...)
MEIKO: (She said she's baking some for Toya and KAITO, so I'm guessing she wants to bake around five or six.)
MEIKO: (Then, two eggs should be more than enough...)
Miku: Alright, I'll start by cracking open ten eggs.
MEIKO: ...?!
MEIKO: Miku, wait! Just how many cupcakes do you plan on making?
Miku: Hm? Enough for you and me to taste, some to give to Toya and KAITO... So, maybe eight or ten?
MEIKO: I see. Then, three eggs should be plenty...
Miku: What? But my notepad says, “It'll make things easier later if you crack open all the eggs and remove the yolks first”...
MEIKO: That explains what you were about to do...
MEIKO: However, that only has to do with separating the yolks from the whites. It says nothing about portions.
Miku: Oh, you're right. Good catch...
MEIKO: (Maybe I should stay and keep an eye on her...)

MEIKO: Okay, they're ready. I'll bring them over now.
Miku: Wow...!
Miku: Thank goodness. They rose properly.
MEIKO: Yes, all ten seem to have risen evenly. And they're all a nice golden brown. They look delicious.
Miku: Thank you, MEIKO... I appreciate you helping me like this.
MEIKO: No, it was my pleasure.
MEIKO: (*Sigh* As proud as I am of her for using a notepad to cook...)
MEIKO: (She interpreted certain things in such a strange way and even tried to throw in some extra twists... I couldn't take my eyes off her for a second...)
Miku: Here's yours, MEIKO. Let's see how they taste.
MEIKO: Ah, thank you. Then...
Miku: Bon appetite...
Miku: *Gasp* It's delicious!
MEIKO: Thank goodness. They're nice and fluffy too.
Miku: Yes, they are. Which means, MEIKO... I can give these to Toya and KAITO, right?
MEIKO: Yes, I'm sure they'll enjoy them very much.
MEIKO: Also, Miku, while we're at it, how about we wrap them in something nice?
Miku: Oh, good idea! Let's do that!
