Kagamine Rin/Relationships

Hatsune Miku: Friend and fellow VIRTUAL SINGER. Rin and Miku are very close, sometimes being compared to sisters. Rin appreciates Miku being there for her, especially when she fights with Len. Miku hopes the cheerful and adorable Rin never goes away, as it fills her with energy.

In the School SEKAI, Rin is very excitable with Miku, nicknaming her Miku-P thinking it's a very cute name, which is similar to many vocaloid creator's music names. Miku doesn't like it that much at first but eventually gets used to it. Miku takes on a sort of teasing personality towards Rin, complimenting her for playing an air guitar once while Rin looks up to Miku and wants to help everyone just like her and Luka do.

In the Stage SEKAI, Miku and Rin are idol partners who have performed over 100 times together, coming up with new show ideas whenever they see something, or asking others for advice. They have great synergy when doing shows and are able to sort out each other's problems and concerns. Miku knows Rin for never giving up and tries to keep up that mindset for herself. Rin appreciates Miku for giving her live advice and praise and practicing their dance rountines together, though sometimes she feels like she isn't able to keep up.

In the Street SEKAI, the two share the same interest of helping out at MEIKO's cafe, enjoying talking with the customers there. Rin comes to Miku sometimes for advice, such as resolving fights with Len.

In the Wonderland SEKAI, Rin thinks Miku is amazing in the way she is able to do her stunts, and tries to copy her, which Miku is happy to be a great teacher to. The two bicker every now and then, such as fighting to take KAITO's position of troupe leader or telling the other to be quiet (while being even louder) but enjoy their shows together and try to cheer up the other if they see the other down.

In the Empty SEKAI, the two have a good relationship, Miku being happy Rin arrived so the SEKAI wouldn't be as lonely without the members of Nightcord, thinking her and the other's presence is comforting. Rin is blunt with Miku sometimes, but also enjoys her presence. The two share the same early worry about the members, which Miku tries to cheer Rin up with it with games.

Kagamine Len: Rin's mirror image and fellow VIRTUAL SINGER. As with most other VIRTUAL SINGER-related media, her relationship with Len is not clearly defined in the Project SEKAI's story. Minori addresses this by explaining that the "setting" of their relationship changes with the song. This statement is reflected in their dynamics across SEKAI, which tends to vary. Rin calls everyday she spends with him fun, and he's the person that comes up first whenever she thinks of something. Len likes to make everything as fun as possible with her, though doesn't feel like there's much to say praise wise due to them always being together.

In the School SEKAI, Rin and Len are often seen together, having a sibling-like relationship (though it is left to interpretation), though bicker quite a bit about small things. Rin liked to guide Len around the SEKAI when he first arrived, and instantly got on, doing a guitar battle to prove Rin's guitar training was working, with them constantly trying to one up the other, showing the two to be very competitive. Rin is able to give Len encouragement which he happily takes and is able to make his ideas better from. Len appears to find the excitable Rin annoying at times, though he’s lenient with her when she wants something done way. Len also gets frustrated at Rin for pushing herself too hard in order to catch up with him, but mainly out of concern for her well-being.

In the Stage SEKAI, Len is able to provide Rin with advice, similar to KAITO, expanding on her ideas or making new ones for both solo shows and shows were they perform together. He also tries to give constructive criticism despite some of Rin's objections, which she gets mad at his ideas being good though isn't afraid to call him lame. They agree on the idea of them being idols, so everyone should have as much fun as possible during their shows. Airi comments that they have amazing chemistry.

In the Street SEKAI, the two are partners, in the same vein as the Vivids and BAD DOGS, being practically glued together most of the time. Len tries to act like an older brother figure to Rin, showing how he can do adult things, though most of the time failing. They also bicker over minor things such as Len having more knowledge about the SEKAI's graffiti than Rin, but can also sometimes have big fights, though both of them feel bad and want to apologise to the other after long enough, talking to the others about the problems and getting the courage to apologise. As they are both DJs under teaching by KAITO, they share the same dislike of him slacking off. Len also gets jealous when Rin sings with others that aren't him, as he wants to be the best partner to her. He likes practicing with Rin and insists on it even when they're supposed to practice alone.

In the Wonderland SEKAI, Rin and Len are best friends, doing a lot of show scenes together and practicing more when one doesn't know their lines. A lot of the times they are in sync, found together whenever someone is looking for the other and doing the same activities. They have friendly competitions of who can learn acting techniques first. The two also friendly bicker on who gets to be troupe leader when they "fire" KAITO, sometimes alongside Miku. When one sees the other down, they are determined to cheer them up, no matter what.

Unlike other SEKAI, in the Empty SEKAI Rin and Len aren't close, as Len finds her intimidating and prefers to stay by Miku's side instead, becoming panicked when he's alone with her, much to Rin's annoyance as most of the time she's trying to be friendly with him. Though she isn't afraid to be bluntly honest with him, despite how sad he gets sometimes.

Megurine Luka: Friend and fellow VIRTUAL SINGER. Rin finds it cool when Luka sings in English, and how she has a talent for choosing fun songs to sing, loving every part about her. She thinks of her as "a soft and fluffy pillow". Luka thinks of Rin as mischievous which makes her lovable, but also able to put smiles on faces.

In the School SEKAI, Luka is able to make small things fun for Rin, and help her when needed, giving her compliments and a feeling of worthiness when needed. Rin thanks Luka for her help, and looks up to her in this way, alongside everyone else in the School SEKAI.

In the Stage SEKAI, Luka's arrival made Rin think they should change their shows to be less childish and they should do things only groups can do, which they both brainstorm about until they can pick something out. Luka likes to slightly tease her, such as fake cry when Rin said about doing a solo show instead of one together, and encourages her to do well in it, thinking she's an adorable and kind person.

In the Street SEKAI, Rin would love for Luka to visit the cafe and main area of the SEKAI more, rather than just wander around, and asks her for music advice, thinking she gives off a coolness aura when she sings. Luka is happy to help her when needed, despite some of her needs being replaced by other members, finding it unfortunate she didn't get to help. Rin also seems to be aware of Luka’s tendency to slack off and neglect her work at the cafe, though she’s generally less harsh with her about it compared to her treatment of KAITO. This is likely because Luka has no part in mentoring her and Len on DJing, which is strictly treated as KAITO’s job.

In the Wonderland SEKAI, Rin finds Luka's tendency to fall asleep cute and sometimes go to sleep with her, also liking to compromise with doing a show that will compromise with Luka's needs. Luka thanks her for this and thinks the tricks she does are impressive and cute, which encourage her to join in.

In the Empty SEKAI, Rin is annoyed and perplexed by Luka's judgements, ideas and tricks on her, where Luka sometimes gives her the truth of problems she's annoyed with in a smug way with this back and forth scaring Len. Rin also assumes that Luka and MEIKO are always fighting due to their opposite ways of thinking. Luka isn't afraid to slightly mess with Rin, such as fiddling with her hair without any warning. Rin sometimes fights back with remarks, though Luka takes them as facts and thinks on them.

MEIKO: Friend and fellow VIRTUAL SINGER. The Kagamines often go to MEIKO and KAITO for advice. Rin enjoys MEIKO's shows and is excited to be able to see more of them in the future. She also wants to help out MEIKO the same way she is helped. MEIKO asks her to never stop smiling, as her joy is contagious, though teases and tells her off a lot.

In the School SEKAI, MEIKO gets Rin's enthusiastic energy, Rin appreciates her in a similar way to KAITO and listens to her advice and takes her words thankfully and confusingly.

In the Stage SEKAI, MEIKO is able to see right through Rin when she's hiding her sadness, and tries to cheer her up from it. She thinks Rin has wonderful ideas, and Rin admires how MEIKO often comes to support her during her shows. They like to discuss prop arrangments together.

In the Street SEKAI, she acts as an older sister or motherly figure to Rin, often breaking up her fights with Len or KAITO and giving her encouragment on things she's struggling on. Rin also often helps out at Crase Cafe, which she finds soothing in both the music choices and the overall atmosphere whether she works there or is a customer, and MEIKO feels like her being there makes her feel privileged to run it.

In the Wonderland SEKAI, Rin knows more than MEIKO about the overall layout of the SEKAI, and shows her around. Similar to other SEKAI, MEIKO acts similarly to a mentor figure to Rin, who takes her words and feels more excited at the time by them.

In the Empty SEKAI, they have a parallel in the fact that Rin likes it when the members of Nightcord come to SEKAI while MEIKO likes being alone as she can focus on her own thoughts, MEIKO is able to recognise when Rin bluffs about this. Despite them not interacting much due to MEIKO's tendency to keep a distance, they get along well when together, though their conversations are short and they sometimes do light jabs at each other. Rin admits to having missed MEIKO when she first arrived in SEKAI and wanting to sing together, which they do with Miku.

KAITO: Friend and fellow VIRTUAL SINGER. He acts as a doting older brother to Rin and Len and is the VIRTUAL SINGER primarily tasked with keeping them in line. While they often play pranks on him, KAITO doesn't appear to hold grudges, as his Christmas home screen lines reveal that he leaves them Christmas presents every year. KAITO promises that Rin's smile will always stay bright with everyone's help and admires Rin's ability to give joy to any room, also thinking her shows are amazing. Rin appreciates how KAITO listens to whatever she has to say, and is up to helping him with any pranks he wants to pull. Though she tries to reduce demanding things in the future.

In the School SEKAI, Rin looks up to KAITO, often coming up to him with Len for his opinions about things and refers to him as "Big Brother KAITO". However, she gets irritated with his shyness when it prevents him from being able to confidently introduce himself to the members of Leo/need. KAITO will occasionally scold Rin for being too excitable or fighting with Len. He also compliments her when it comes to making things fun, such as videos.

In the Stage SEKAI, Rin respects him, similar to Miku, calling his ideas amazing and his preparations neat. KAITO things she is a wonderful idol alongside the others and enjoys helping out their shows, making sure to point out anything faulty, though fixing it as soon as he can. They both feel the same way about MORE MORE JUMP!'s shows, feeling astonished by them.

In the Street SEKAI, KAITO mentors Rin in DJing, alongside Len. She gets annoyed at his laidback demeanor while he insists he is serious when working with her. Though when he admits to Kohane he takes her more seriously than teaching the others, Rin goes to shake him out of annoyance. They often have differing opinions on things and thus argue a lot, but can be a good duo when needed, such as when helping Kohane with her sampling. She gets confused when he talks about music but thinks when he's explaining things, he sounds amazing, but thinks he should try something new.

In the Wonderland SEKAI, Rin looks up to KAITO at troupe leader, and being able to juggle all the things he has to do, saying she wants to try it out too. KAITO offers to think of performances she can do as a troupe leader, and tells her she doesn't have to be responsible for everything or act like everything is fine, and works better when she's having fun rather than taking everything seriously.

In the Empty SEKAI, Rin thinks he says whatever he wants too much and doesn't let Mafuyu do what she wants in her own SEKAI. KAITO thinks she along with everyone else is soft on her and it won't help Mafuyu reach what she needs. Rin also shows shock when KAITO leaves her and Miku a pillow without saying a word when they fell asleep while playing, showing she'd never seen his nice side that much before.

Tenma Saki: A member of Leo/need. Rin and Saki both share the trait of giving their fellow bandmates nicknames. Saki immediately got excited upon Rin's arrival in Unnamed Harmony, and Rin managed to help Saki get a better idea on writing songs through improvising something. Since then, Saki has been happy to buy Rin things, as well as talk about her '100 Things to Do Once I'm Back in School' list, Rin cheering her on.

Momoi Airi: A member of MORE MORE JUMP!. Airi was originally glum upon seeing her and Miku on the stage due to reminicing about being an idol, but Rin immediately realises she can't sit back and do nothing as an idol herself, cheering her up. She later thanks Rin for being the reason she can finally try again as an idol. Rin compares her to a mom, while Airi wishes she could be like an older sister instead. Airi calls her 'energetic as ever' and 'bright' when visting her in Time to RE:START!, showing she views her as excitable, and asks her to perform to once again cheer her up. Overall, she always calls her encouraging, while Rin trusts her enough to do things such as adjust her ribbon and make sweets with her guidance.

Shinonome Akito: A member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. She and Len see him as an older brother figure. Akito treats Rin like an annoying younger sibling, who he is at times lenient toward, usually to get her out of his hair. When asked by Rin who between Miku and MEIKO is most reminiscent of Ena, he says that Rin resembles her the most, due to their mutual stubbornness. Despite this comparison, it's implied that Rin gets both her stubbornness as well as her hot-temper from Akito, which are traits he also shares with his sister, Ena. In With You at SEKAI's Beginnings, it is shown her and Len formed as partners due to Akito and Toya also being partners.

Kusanagi Nene: A member of Wonderlands x Showtime. Rin generally tries to make Nene smile and make new friends throughout the majority of her debut event, peeking out to get her to talk to people or ask if they can go out again, and praising her at every chance. Nene feels awkward at the very energetic gestures, but appreciates the help.

Kamishiro Rui: A member of Wonderlands x Showtime. Rin is very excited by Rui's knowledge of shows, balloon animals, and contraptions, which Rui is happy to show her, even knowing a way to let her be in the open in movie theaters.

Shinonome Ena: A member of 25-ji, Nightcord de. It is implied that Ena's feelings first brought Rin to Empty SEKAI . Rin allows herself to join the rest of Nightcord in helping Ena in her debut event, and motivates her to talk to the others to recognise that she can draw. After, Rin finds interest in Ena's art, and doing it herself as well. Ena brings over some things for her to go over to satiate this interest, and asks for opinions on her own art. She found interest in drawing Rin, alongside the other VIRTUAL SINGERs, which the subject didn't like at first, but later offered to be drawn.
