Side Story 1


Kohane's Room
Kohane: Okay... I'm pretty sure we only had to do up to this page.
Kohane: Phew, I'm all done with my homework! That means I can take it easy tomorrow.
Kohane: I know! Maybe I'll stop by Weekend Garage since I couldn't make it today.
Kohane: <Hey, I'm going to stop by the cafe tomorrow. Will you be there?>
Kohane: And...send. Oh, she's just seen it.
An's Message: <Was just about to send you a message! Since I'm helping out, I'll be there from the morning!>
An's Message: <So, wanna put some time aside for a bit of singing?>
Kohane: <Alright, I'll be sure to arrive a bit early while the cafe isn't busy.>
Kohane: Singing practice...
Kohane: (We were all practicing together until recently...)
Kohane: (And then...)
Taiga: ♪————————————!!
An: ...!
Arata: This is it for me.
Arata: Goodbye. This team was fun while it lasted...
Tatsuya: I'm not gonna lie. This feels like the end of the line...
Kotaro: Why...?! Why...?! Why couldn't I sing when it really mattered...?
Kotaro: Why...? Why am I such a stupid, spineless piece of garbage...?!
Kohane: (Just like that... We all split up.)
Kohane: (It was a huge shock to us...)
Kohane: (But in spite of all that...)
An's Father: I believe you'll figure out a way to get there. The place Nagi wasn't able to reach.
An's Father: With your friends here.
An: ...
An: Aunt Nagi placed her faith in me.
An: She said she believes that we can carry her dream forward...!
An: Then, I'm gonna do it!
An: We're going to surpass RAD WEEKEND and show you guys what things look like from on top of the world!
Kohane: (An was the one who stepped up and gave us a second wind.)
Kohane: (And she must have been hit the hardest by the news of Nagi's passing. She loved her so much...)
Kohane: It just goes to show how amazing An is.
Kohane: No matter what hardships come her way, she just keeps going, facing everything headon...
Kohane: (If I were in her shoes, would I be able to do the same?)
Kohane: I guess there's no use thinking of what-ifs. After all, I'm not An.
Kohane: Anyway, I should get an early night for tomorrow.
Street SEKAI
Kohane: Mmmh.... H-Huh? Why am I in SEKAI?
Kohane: I guess I must have dozed off while scrolling on my phone...
Kohane: Oh... something's glowing. It looks like...some kind of crystal ball?
Kohane: W-Wah! What's this light?! I can't see!
Vivid Street?
Kohane: Wh-What happened? Am I on Vivid Street?
Kohane: Does this mean I left SEKAI? No... I'm not in my room, and it's not even nighttime.
Record Store Lady: Hello? You okay over there?
Kohane: Huh?
Kohane: (It's the lady who works at the record store! That must mean I'm back in the real world, right?)
Kohane: Excuse me! Um... I know this is a strange thing to ask but... This is Vivid Street, isn't it?
Record Store Lady: Huh?
Kohane: Um... It's not a trick question! It's just that...
Record Store Lady: Hahaha! Hold on a minute, what's gotten into you today?
Record Store Lady: What's with that overly polite tone, An? Kinda caught me off guard!
Kohane: Huh...?
Kohane: (Did she just call me... An?)
Kohane: Um... Sorry, I'm Kohane...
Record Store Lady: What're you talking about?
Record Store Lady: I mean, you sound an awful lot like her, but I'm a hundred percent certain I'm looking at An right now.
Kohane: What?!
Kohane: (She really thinks I'm An?! B-But...why?)
Record Store Lady: Well anyway, feel free to stop by the store whenever. Also, tell the real Kohane I said hi!
Kohane: But... I'm the real Kohane.
Kohane: I-I should look in a mirror!
Kohane: (Surely not... But, what if...)
Kohane: Oh! I'll be able to see my reflection in that shop window!
Kohane: Huh...?
Kohane: (That's...definitely me.)
Regular: Oh, well if it isn't An! Aren't you helping out at your ol' man's place today?
Kohane: Huh?! Uh... W-Well...
Kohane: N-No, I'm not! Dad said I can hang out with my friends today...
Regular: Ahaha, great! By the way, any upcoming events I should know about? You know you can count on me to be in the crowd!
Kohane: We'd love to see you! I'll keep you posted!
Regular: Fantastic! Can't wait!
Kohane: (I just mimicked An... But, allowing this to blow out of proportion is the last thing I want.)
Kohane: (But why is this even happening? Why does everyone think I'm An?)
Kohane: (What do I do now? If only there was someone I could go to for help...)

Akito: Hm? An. You're late.
Toya: Was Weekend Garage particularly busy?
Kohane: Oh... Um...
Kohane: (Judging by their reaction, I'm guessing that they think I'm An, too.)
Kohane: (Now what? I was hoping that they, of all people, might just recognize me...)
Kohane: (I have to keep this under wraps. I don't want them to freak out.)
Kohane: Well, it was kinda hard to slip away. Ahaha...
Toya: It's okay. We understand you have responsibilities. Now we're just waiting for Azusawa.
Akito: She'll be here soon. How about some warm-ups while we wait?
Akito: Are you good to go?
Kohane: Oh, um... You bet!
Toya: Okay then, let's start.
Toya: ————! ————!
Akito: ————! ————!!
Kohane: (I've got to sing An's part. Okay... Sing it like An would...)
Kohane: ————! ——~~~!
Kohane: (That's not right...)
Kohane: (Her voice has more impact, more strength, more flair...)
Kohane: ————!! ——~~~!!
Akito: Stop. Is it me, or do you sound a bit off?
Toya: I could hear it too. Your voice was shaking, as if you were not singing how you wanted to.
Toya: In particular, your choice of vibrato and breath placement was similar to Azusawa's style.
Akito: You're right... Actually, your posture, too... You were even standing like her.
Kohane: *Gasp*
Kohane: (Does this mean...they recognized me?)
Kohane: (That's it! They might realize it's me from my singing style!)

Kohane: (We practice together day in and day out from dusk until dawn...)

Kohane: (Please... Believe me! Recognize me!)

Kohane: (I know that sometimes, I wish I could be like An, radiating with charisma and confidence...)
Kohane: (But simply looking like An won't make me happy!)
Kohane: ————!! ——————!!
Kohane: (I have to be myself! After all...)
An: I honestly, genuinely believe that you have an absolutely amazing voice, Kohane...
An: Every time I hear you sing, you make my heart dance and I can't help but want to sing with you!
An: I honestly, genuinely, 100% feel that way.
An: We believe in you, Kohane. Which is why we wanna hear you at your best!
Kohane: (I'm An's partner!)
Kohane: ————~~~!!　————!!
Kohane: (It's my own voice that An loves to hear! It's my own voice that she believes in!)
Kohane: (I don't want to be anyone other than Kohane Azusawa, An's partner!)
Akito: You... You really are Kohane!
Kohane: I am!

Kohane: Huh?! W-Where am I?
???: ...ne! Kohane! Can you hear me?
Kohane: *Gasp* Miku?!
Miku's Voice: Take a deep breath and listen to me. Kohane, you've wandered into a SEKAI formed from a fragment of a feeling.
Kohane: A SEKAI formed from...a fragment of a feeling?
Miku's Voice: Yes. You may have witnessed something yourself, but think of it as an illusion reflecting a deep feeling.
Kohane: An illusion? So that means Shinonome and Aoyagi weren't real...
Miku's Voice: Sorry, Kohane. The fragment is unstable, so I can't go get you. Are you able to get out by yourself?
Kohane: Um...
Kohane: I suppose that means I'll just have to find a way out of this place.
Miku's Voice: Will you be alright, Kohane?
Kohane: Yes. This place looks like some sort of mirror maze. Good thing all those trips to PXL have given me plenty of experience with these.
Kohane: Um... Miku, you mentioned that this world came from a fragment of a feeling... So, is this someone's SEKAI?
Miku's Voice: Yes. But I don't know whose feelings created it...
Kohane: I see. I wonder who...
Kohane: (I feel a sort of beauty and warmth here... Like somewhere close to my heart...)
Kohane: Huh? Through this mirror, is that...the park that we usually practice in and Weekend Garage?
Kohane: And there's Vivid Street in that one, and a live house in another...
Miku's Voice: Kohane? Is everything okay?
Kohane: Um... These mirrors are showing me lots of different scenes...and they're all places close to my heart.
Kohane: Ah!
Kohane: Did I just see the others and...my past self?
Kohane: H-Hey, that's us on the way home from our first event as Vivid BAD SQUAD...
Kohane: (I don't know exactly what feelings gave birth to a place like this, but...)
Kohane: (With every step deeper into the maze, more snippets from my life flash before my eyes then disappear again.)
Kohane: (This is starting to feel less like a mirror maze and more like a kaleidoscope.)
Kohane: *Gasp*
Kohane: (This one with Tono and the others is cracked...)
Kohane: I have to keep moving. Miku is waiting for me.


Street SEKAI
Miku: Glad to see you made it, Kohane. You did well to navigate that by yourself.
Kohane: Oh, Miku! I'm so glad that I managed to make it out.
Miku: What was it like in there? I can only imagine how surreal it all felt.
Kohane: Y-Yeah... There was a surprise around every corner. I felt like I had been whisked away in some dream.
Kohane: But...
Kohane: (It's my own voice that An loves to hear! It's my own voice that she believes in!)
Kohane: (I don't want to be anyone other than Kohane Azusawa, An's partner!)
Kohane: The whole experience helped me to remember something important.
Miku: I see.
Miku: Perhaps it appeared to remind you of that important thing.
Kohane: If that's the case, I owe my thanks to whoever those feelings belonged to.
Kohane: (I want to be the best partner that An could ever have, and sing by her side forever.)
Kohane: (And...)
Kohane: (I don't want to give up on them.)
Kohane: (I'm going to get on my feet and give it my all with the others!)
