Kusunoki Tomori (楠木 ともり) is a voice actress and singer-songwriter from Tokyo. She is Yoisaki Kanade's voice actress. She is currently affiliated with Sony Music Artists, while her singing activites are signed under Sacra Music.
Background[]
In eighth grade, Tomori started liking anime through her friend. She first fell in love with Tokyo Mew Mew, and was then impressed by Hanazawa Kana's role as Kobato in the anime of the same name, leading to her wanting to become a voice actress. Because she couldn't attend a voice acting school, she studied and trained all on her own.
In 2016, she participated in an audition held by Sony Music Artists after her older sister suggested her to. She applied as singer because she felt she wasn't experienced enough as voice actress, and due to failing at a prior seiyuu audition. However, she ended up winning a special price at the competition.[1]
In 2017, she made her voice actor debut as a minor character in "Eromanga Sensei". In June 2017, she was cast in her first main role as Kirara in Kirara Fantasia.
On March 9, 2019, she won the Best Rookie Actresses award at the 13th Seiyuu Awards, together with Honnizumi Rina and Iwami Manaka.
Tomori announced her solo artist debut during her birthday live event in 2019, and released her first EP "Hamidashimono" on August 19, 2020.
On November 1, 2022, it was announced that she has been diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disorder that makes it hard for her to dance and perform other strenuous activities that involve large movements, and that she will be stepping down from her role as Yuuki Setsuna on March 31, 2023. She was officially succeeded by Hayashi Coco on April 1, 2023, who is the current seiyuu of Setsuna.
On May 8, 2023, Tomori revealed on her Twitter account that she has tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, she had to delay some of her radio and autograph appearances. On May 13, she resumed her activities.
