Side Story 1

Weekend Garage
Kohane: ...
Kohane: So the biggest difference between amateurs and pro musicians is the number of gigs they've done...
An: ...hane! Kohane! Hey!
Kohane: Huh?! Um, An? What's wrong?
An: It should be me asking you that. You totally zoned out.
Kohane: Oh, sorry...
An: What's on your mind? You can talk to me.
Kohane: Hehehe. Thanks, An.
Kohane: It keeps nagging at me that I'm so inexperienced compared to you guys.
An: ...
Kohane: So... I was wondering if I could sing here at Weekend Garage someday, in front of the cafe's customers...
An: That's a great idea! And I'd get to listen to your singing while waiting tables! Awesome!
Kohane: Phew, it's reassuring that you're supportive of my idea.
An: Okay, you just wait here, and I'll go speak with my dad and—
Kohane: Um... Wait, An!
Kohane: I'd like to speak to him myself. It really should come from me.
Kohane: I can't let you take care of everything for me all the time, or I'll never learn.
Kohane: Besides... This is going to be my solo performance.
An: Kohane... Yeah, you're right!
Kohane: Thanks, An.
An's Father: An, are you working or what?
An: Oops! Sorry, Dad!
An: I've got stuff to do. Speak to you later, Kohane!
An's Father: Here's your milk tea. Careful, it's hot.
Kohane: Um, Mr. Shiraishi!
An's Father: Yes? Did you want to order something else?
Kohane: N-No, I... I wanted to ask you a favor...
An's Father: Oh?
Kohane: It's... It's just that I... I'm the least experienced member of our group.
Kohane: But I don't think it's fair that I'm holding everyone back because I'm new to this.
Kohane: I'd like to... Get more experience singing in public.
Kohane: Do you think I could sing at your cafe, even just one day a week? Would it be okay?
An's Father: ...
Kohane: Is... Is that a no?
An's Father: I'm not saying no, but I wanted to warn you first that since you teamed up with An, Akito, and Toya, people started paying attention to you, too.
An's Father: The first time you sang here, they had low expectations, since you were a rookie. But that's no longer the case.
Kohane: Oh...
An's Father: You may be face with a demanding audience. Are you prepared for that?
Kohane: ... Yes! I can do it!
Kohane: It may be difficult for me if the reaction's not positive, but this is something I have to do anyway.
Kohane: This is the only way forward if I'm to stay in the group.
Kohane: And that's really important to me. So please, let me sing here!
An's Father: Well, it seems like you've made up your mind.
Kohane: I have!
An's Father: But you know, it's not just successful performances that count towards experience. Failures do, too.
Kohane: Failures...count?
An's Father: You see, everyone's afraid of failure. Of losing their fame, or their team's trust because of it.
An's Father: But what's the worst about it is when you're too scared to face it, and you run away.
Kohane: Oh...
Kohane: If you run away from failure, the damage can't be undone...
An's Father: Exactly. But you're strong enough to confront it. Sure there are many things you can't do yet, but you're not all green.
An's Father: So sing with confidence and pride.
Kohane: I will! Thank you, Mr. Shiraishi!
An: Make space on your table, I've got cookies for you.
Kohane: Oh? Did I order cookies?
An: It's on us! Looks like the talk went well?
Kohane: Yes!
Kohane: (That's a small step forward...)
Kohane: (I'm so glad An trusted me with this.)

Side Story 2

Outside the live house
Akito: Tch! An's running late. Where the heck's she gone?
Toya: It looks like she's having some trouble finding the event organizer.
Kohane: An's got so many connections. She even got us a special invite to this event...
Kohane: ...
Toya: Kohane, you okay?
Kohane: Sorry, I was just thinking that I need to give it my best today.
Akito: Don't stress out about it so much, or you'll panic and fumble again.
Kohane: I won't! I'll sing as well as you do!
Akito: Neat, you're finally showing some confidence.
Toya: A crowd's starting to form by the stage.
Audience Member A: Did you see? Vivid BAD SQUAD's in today's lineup.
Audience Member B: I saw those guys at STAY GOLDEN. They're nothing special.
Kohane: !!
Audience Member A: Really? I heard good things about them before.
Audience Member B: They were riding out their luck, nothing more than that. I'm surprised they got in on this event at all.
Audience Member A: Aw, dude. I was kind of hyped to see them, but it looks like I shouldn't have got my hopes up.
Akito: Tch...
Toya: ...
Kohane: I... I'm sorry...
Toya: No need to talk about it anymore, Kohane.
Kohane: B-But, it's my fault...
Akito: Look, there's always gonna be haters. Don't let it get to you.
Kohane: !!
Kohane: (But... If it weren't for me messing up at STAY GOLDEN, our rep wouldn't have taken such a hit.)
Akito: Sheesh. I take back what I said about you learning to be confident.
Akito: If it bothers you so much what people say about us, shut them up with an awesome performance. Like that other time.
Kohane: That other time?

Kohane: I want to organize a great event with An that will get everyone there excited!

Akito: I admit, it looks like you may have the resolve after all.
Akito: Your song was great. Sorry about messing things up before.
Kohane: Oh...
Kohane: (That's right... At first, Akito didn't acknowledge me, but he changed his mind after seeing me on stage.)
Akito: Keep your chin high and show them how awesome you are.
Kohane: I will!
Kohane: Hmm... An's dad said something similar to me earlier.
Toya: He actually told me that too, when I had just teamed up with Akito.
Akito: Oh yeah?
Akito: Anyway, An's really late. Let's go inside.
Kohane: But...
Akito: It's fine, we'll find her inside.
Akito: Besides, this way our sensitive member won't have to listen to some guys badmouthing us while they wait for the gig.
Kohane: Um... Was Akito being considerate towards me just now?
Toya: Yeah, I think he was.
Akito: Hurry up, you two! Or I'll go on ahead without you!
Toya: Right. Let's go, Kohane.
Kohane: Okay!
