Kohane: Yeah! That was so cool, An!
An: Hehe. Right? Doing all those street practices was totally worth it!
Akito: Okay, I'll go next. Get ready!

Toya: (Shiraishi began acting a little strange after Azusawa started practicing with Taiga...)
Toya: (But she seems to be back to her old self now. As a result, we seem to be working better as a team.)
Toya: (Isn't there anything I can do to help maintain what we have now...?)

Akito: It wasn't just raining. It was cold too. We would've all gotten sick if we did practice out there.
Kohane: Oh, but Taiga mentioned how he'd practice even if it rained.
Akito: What? Seriously?
Kohane: Yes. He said, “If you clear your mind of mundane thoughts, even rain will feel warm.”
An: Haha. Practicing in the rain like it's nothing is totally something he'd do.
An: Hold on, Kohane. He didn't make you do that, did he?! There's no way that can be good for you!
Kohane: No, we didn't do anything like that!
Kohane: He also mentioned how the rain doesn't bother him because he's never caught a cold before, so it's not something he recommends to others!
Kohane: At the same time, the way he practices did seem a little strange...
Toya: Strange how?
Kohane: For starters, he had me listen to all sorts of different music and asked me what I thought.
Akito: What you thought?
Kohane: Yeah. But not my opinion, like if I thought an artist was good or if I liked the chorus for a song...
Kohane: He wanted me to compare music to places or scenery, such as being in a field of sunflowers or seeing the sun set over the sea.

Toya: (The way Luka sings has so much depth to it...)
Toya: (It's as if she can sing freely while being able to compliment the way someone else sings.)
Toya: (It's like she's... At ease. It'd be great to learn to sing like this.)


Luka: Wow, we really cut loose there, didn't we?
An: Yeah, that felt great! Gimme five, Luka!
Luka: High five! Hehe. And you guys were as good as ever.
Luka: No, I take that back. You've all improved quite a bit, no? It's like you're all singing with much more clarity now!
Kohane: You think so?
Akito: If it's that noticeable, then that means all our hard work's actually paying off.

Kohane: I agree. I really want to try singing that song. It's a little different from what we usually do, but it sounds so hip and cool!

Toya: Aside from field trips, I wasn't allowed to participate in other school events, including sports competitions and such.

Kohane: I-I'm so sorry, Aoyagi! I didn't mean to be so inconsiderate...
Toya: It's okay, really. That's all in the past now.
Toya: I need to apologize as well... Not having experienced what you said has turned into a roadblock for us.
Toya: If I had been to a real forest before, I might've been able to understand what you meant when you said, “Quiet and peaceful...”
Luka: ...
Akito: Hey, that's not your fault. You'll just have to make up for it with your imagination.

An: How people sing can really vary based on their personal experiences. My dad being a prime example of that.

Toya: (I was sure that my knowledge would be what I contribute to this team, but that clearly has its limits.)
Toya: (This may a good opportunity to experience something new for a change.)

Toya: I have very little experience with anything other than music, so my hope was that I could use that knowledge to make up for that... But that isn't possible right now.

Toya: (Roughly seventy percent of Japan is covered in woodlands. Where would be best in terms of what we wish to accomplish...?)
Toya: (Alright, I'll try looking at a few maps during lunch.)


Lunch Break
Akito: Hey, Toya, let's get some food... Huh?
Akito: Dude, where are you going? Food's that way...
Toya: The library. I'm hoping to find a suitable forest that we can visit.
Toya: So, sorry... I won't be able to have lunch with you today.
Akito: O-Okay...
Akito: I mean, it's great that you're excited, but don't go too crazy, alright...?
Akito: It's not like we absolutely have to go either. If anything, we could just ask Taiga about the song he introduced to Kohane...
Toya: No, this is too good an opportunity to pass up, and I'd like to do everything I can for our team.
Toya: Even if we were to find a temporary solution, there's no guarantee that we won't encounter the same problem in the future. I'd like to be prepared for when that happens.

Toya: Yes, well... I understand very clearly now that I grew up in a very special environment.
Toya: Conversely, I haven't experienced many of the things that others consider “normal”...
Toya: Which is why I want to check off those boxes.

An: But I guess he sort of should if he really does want to go...
An: Still, woods and forests can be pretty dangerous depending on where you go. I'm a little worried about his safety.
Akito: Knowing him, I'm sure he'll look up everything he needs for it...
Akito: But you might be right to worry about his safety. You never know how dangerous some of these places are until you see it for yourself.

An: In that case, why don't we do this?
Akito: Yeah...?

Toya: (World Heritage Sites, like Shirakami-Sanchi and Yakushima, seem ideal since they contain virgin forests.)
Toya: (But it'll take an enormous amount of time to get to either...)
Toya: (While all the parks, mountains and forests around here have more or less become popular tourist attractions...)
An: Hey, Toya! Mind if we pop in?
Akito: Sorry to catch you during break.
Toya: Shiraishi, Akito... What brings you here?
An: About you going to visit an actual forest... Have you made a decision about where yet?
Toya: No, not quite? I'm having trouble finding a suitable location.
An: Great! We have an idea regarding that.
An: Why don't we all go together?
Toya: All of us?
Akito: You said you want to see a real forest so that we can grow as a team, right?
Akito: But you gotta understand that we don't all imagine the same thing when we think about a forest.
Akito: If you want us to share the same image, then we should all go together.

Toya: But I wouldn't want you to go if it means you have to sacrifice practices...
An: No, don't say that! I actually think it'll be a great learning experience for all of us!
An: Not only that, you might be able to experience more than just the forest if we all go, right?

Toya: I know that you're supposed to pitch a tent and make food using outdoor cookware, but...

Akito: There's this place that we went to as a family a long time ago because Dad wanted to draw somewhere quiet, and I remember there being a huge forest nearby.
Akito: Also, I'm pretty sure we can get there by train and bus in around two hours.
Toya: It's that close...?!
An: On top of that, my family used to go camping a bunch, so we have all the tents and outdoor gear that we could ever need.
An: So let's take this opportunity to go camping in the woods for a night! It'll be fun, and I'm sure this experience will help us with our song.
Toya: A night? As in we'll be sleeping there...?
An: Yeah! Going there and back all in one day would be pretty rough. I asked Kohane about this yesterday and she said she can go too!
Toya: Azusawa's also coming?
Akito: You heard her. I was worried that her dad wouldn't let her go since he's pretty protective of her, but I guess she managed to get through to him.
An: Yeah, he gave her the green light after she told him that we'd be going with her and that it'll be like a training camp where we can work on our singing.
An: So I'm really glad that we had a chance to meet him that one time!
Toya: I see... I'm sorry for making you go through all this trouble.
Akito: Hey, like I said earlier, this isn't just about you...
Akito: The rest of us want to do everything we can to become a better team. We're all in this together.
Toya: Right...
Toya: If all of us going is the best way to grow as a team, then that definitely seems like the best option.

Kohane: No, that's okay! I'm really excited since we don't get to go shopping together all that much.

An: Oh, that's for putting under your sleeping bag. My dad bought some so we're all set there.

Toya: I see. It'd be good to take some along considering how chilly it's been lately.

Akito: Yeah, that's what you need for camping stoves. You can even use them to make coffee while climbing up mountains and stuff.
Toya: Freshly brewed coffee does sound nice... Being out in the wilderness may even make it taste just that much better.
Toya: But all this browsing may not be good for my wallet. Or can I find a way to work them into my budget...?
Toya: Hm? Oh, it's an instruction manual... Ah, you use this to hang wet utensils and divide up smaller pieces of equipment.
Toya: And this ball... You can make ice cream just by putting ingredients into it and rolling it around?!
Akito: I'm glad you're having fun, but we don't have time to look at everything...

An: To be fair, it is fun to look around these kinds of shops.

Akito: Yeah, we'd have less to worry about later too.
Toya: Okay, let's start by pitching our tents.
An: Oh, how does this grove sound? It's still pretty green even though it's winter.
Akito: Looks good. Alright, let's claim this area.
Toya: Akito and I will pitch our tent here. Why don't you two pitch yours right next door, Azusawa, Shiraishi?
An: Okay! Let's get right to it!


Kohane: Um... We start by rolling out the tent, right?
An: Wait, were there always this many poles? Let's start with one and work our way up from there...
Kohane: Hm? Doesn't this tent belong to your family, An? You've put it together before, right...?
An: Haha. Actually, my dad's the one who's good at this and usually just does it by himself in seconds. The last time I really did this was when I was little...

Kohane: Yeah, I went to this local summer camp one time when I was little, so I still sort of remember how to pitch a tent and build a campfire.

Akito: But we're not done yet. It'll get blown away if we don't clamp it down with some stakes.
Toya: Right. You mean these pegs, yes?
Akito: Yeah. And those two seem to be having some trouble with their tent, so let's go help them once we're done here.
Toya: Okay. Hm? Oh, it's getting windy...
Akito: C-Crap...!
Toya: Hey, the tent's floating...!
Toya: No, at this rate, your family's tent will...!

Akito: Hold on. These kinds of tents usually have their model number printed on their tag. Why don't you use that to look up the instructions on your phone?
An: Hey, you're right! The tag should be...
Akito: A tent like this should have its tag... Yeah, right here.
An: Whoa, you found it so fast! You're pretty good at this kind of stuff, huh, Akito?
Akito: Better at it than you to say the least. Anyway, we gotta get a move on before it gets dark.
An: I know, but pitching a tent is turning out to be harder than I remember. Thank goodness I'm a better cook than you, Akito!
Akito: Nice comeback...
Akito: But you bring up a good point... Should we pick out a leader for each part?
Toya: Leaders?
Akito: Yeah, so we know who to turn to if we have questions or run into trouble.
Akito: I could be in charge of pitching tents and you could be in charge of cooking, you know?
An: Oh, Kohane said that she knows how to build a campfire, so she can be in charge of that!
Toya: Yes, I see. Knowing who to turn to regarding each task would streamline things quite a bit.
Toya: But... What would I be in charge of...?
Akito: You're in charge of absorbing as much information as you can. I mean, you're here for the experience, right?

Kohane: Oh, the wind may be too much for it.
Kohane: Why don't we do this...? Can you guys help me find some rocks? They'll need to be more or less the size of your fist.
Akito: Rocks?
An: Oh, right!


Kohane: Okay, that should be enough to line our pit... Aoyagi, mind giving it another try?
Toya: I can't make any guarantees. Light the tinder and...
Toya: Oh...! Everything lit properly this time.
Kohane: The rocks protect it against the wind.
Kohane: All that's left is to give it some air... Try blowing on it like this...
Akito: Oh, it grew. That's incredible.

An: Next, it's my turn!
An: Camping equals barbeque! So let's chop everything up and put them on skewers!
Toya: Do we need to rinse the vegetables before we chop them?
Akito: Whoa, Toya, have you ever used a knife before...?
Toya: No. I was only ever allowed to peel onions and such during home ec, so I'll be using a kitchen knife for the first time today...
An: That's okay. Just stay relaxed and you'll be fine. As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with the way you're holding everything.
An: How about you start with some bell peppers?
Toya: Okay. How big should they be?
An: Hmm... I usually just eyeball it... But we're making skewers, so how about quarters? Try chopping them in half and again after that.
Toya: Quarters...
Akito: Dude, chill.
Kohane: Yeah, Aoyagi, just try to relax...! As long as your curl your fingers in while you chop, your fingers will be fine.
Toya: Grr... That's easier said than done in my case... I can't get as good a grip on them...


Toya: I did it...! Shiraishi, I did it!
An: Yeah, nice job! You're actually pretty good at this, Toya!
An: Keep up the good work and chop away!


An: Oh, Akito, mind making me some bowls out of foil? I wanna try sauteing the end piece of the veggies in garlic oil.
Akito: That sounds amazing. Just gimme a sec.
Akito: Also, didn't one of us bring some cheese? We could use some foil to make a fondue bowl.
An: Yeah, nice idea! Let's give it a shot!
An: Kohane, can you start putting Toya's veggies onto skewers for us?
Kohane: Okay! Oh...
Toya: Quarters... Quarters...
Kohane: Aoyagi! Your onion's gonna fall apart if you chop it like that!


Toya: *Sigh*... Finally, we're done prepping for dinner...
An: Yup! The last step is for us to cook everything, so we can relax and have fun until dinnertime!
An: Thank goodness too. For a second there, I was worried that it'd get dark before we could finish pitching our tents and getting ready for dinner!
Kohane: But we should be able to check out the forest before we eat now.
Akito: Yeah. Let's go take a look.
An: But we need to be careful about getting lost. Does the GPS on our phones work out here...?
Akito: I made sure to check after my sister told me about what happened when she and her friends went out hiking the other day.
Akito: I'm getting a decent signal, which means the GPS should be working fine.
Kohane: Great! We have nothing to worry about! Lemme just put out the fire... Okay, let's go.

Toya: (All I did during elementary and junior high school was watch while everyone had fun during school events.)
Toya: (But I'm able to enjoy and experience all those activities now.)

An: Yeah, these are called “sunroots”. They're pretty good too. You can cook them by boiling or frying them up.

Toya: Based on what I've read, you're supposed to retrace your steps by looking for trail markers or anything that seems familiar... What do you think, Akito?
Akito: Right... We might be able to find somewhere that looks familiar.
Akito: Alright, let's head back a little and see if anything jogs our memories.

Toya: If we apply this information to our map, we should be able to find our campsite.
