Background Between Worlds

Between SEKAI

SEKAI (のセカイ, World) is a mysterious world separate from the real world. SEKAI are built from emotions, and where VIRTUAL SINGERS live.

Profile[]

There are many different SEKAIs, each one formed from the feelings of people who are struggling to understand themselves. When the feelings of a person are realized, they will manifest in the SEKAI through a song. VIRTUAL SINGERS live in these worlds, with different appearances in each SEKAI, helping people discover their true feelings.

People can travel to their SEKAI by playing "Untitled" songs. These songs have no melody or lyrics and are created when a SEKAI is born.

Fragment SEKAI[]

Main Article: Fragment SEKAI

Fragment SEKAI are temporary SEKAI created when a character is feeling strong emotions or reminiscing on their past. Fragment SEKAI are unnamed, can only be accessed within another SEKAI, and cannot be exited by pausing "Untitled". These fragments appear as glowing spheres of light and teleport the owner into the SEKAI upon contact. However, Fragment SEKAI do not last long, as they are only a fragment of one's feelings.[1] Each Fragment SEKAI is explored in a character's Colorful Festival card, and is themed to the character's memories or current feelings.

Event SEKAI[]

Event SEKAI are exclusive to collaborations. There have only been two Event SEKAIs for the Aku no Taizai Series Collaboration and Sanrio Collaboration.

Trivia[]

  • If a member's phone battery dies, they will be forcibly kicked out from the SEKAI and go back to the normal world.[2]
  • The stage seen in Virtual Lives is its own SEKAI that the VIRTUAL SINGERS can seemingly transport characters to without using Untitled. It changes appearance based on the performers and the song they’re singing.[3]
  • The song "Untitled" will turn into a playable song once the people within its SEKAI realize their true feelings, at end of each unit story.
  • Unlike other SEKAI, the Wonderland SEKAI and the Empty SEKAI are built from a single person's feelings (Tsukasa and Mafuyu respectively), instead of all four members of the unit. Despite this, other people's emotions still affecting the SEKAI and VIRTUAL SINGERS that appear in it.
