When The Floodgates Open

Side Story 1

Kamiyama Street
An: Alright, let's meet up with Arata and the others, and go find Uncle Taiga!
Kohane: Okay!
An: *Sigh* He's really heading back to the US. It feels too soon...
Kohane: Yeah...
Kohane: When I first heard that he'd be heading back to the US to go on tour, I didn't realize just how famous an artist he really is.
Akito: Yeah, as famous as he is, I'm having a hard time telling what he's like as a "professional".
Toya: Oh, isn't Nagi also in the United States right now? Is she going to tour with him?
An: Dunno. It didn't sound like they were doing anything together.
An: Oh, I know! I can ask Uncle Taiga to ask her to come back to Japan if she ever gets some free time!
An: If I tell her that I'm in a team now, she'll definitely want to come see us!
Kohane: I hope I get to meet her too. I really want to ask her about what you were like when you were little, An.
An: What?! No! Nuh-uh! She's totally gonna say the most embarrassing things about me!
Akito: Oh? In other words, there's a lot of stuff that you don't want us knowing about.
An: Huh? Uh, no! What are you talking about?! Anyway, let's get going!
Vivid Street
An: Oh...
Kohane: An? Is something wrong?
An: Oh, so... See that little shop over there? I just remembered how Aunt Nagi and I used to go there a lot together.
Toya: That could be because we were just talking about her.
Akito: Just so you know, we don't have time to take any detours.
An: Yeah, I know.
An: (I still go there occasionally, but I always find myself reminiscing whenever I do...)
Shopkeeper: Well, if it isn't Nagi and An. Come on in!
Nagi: Oh, is it true that your husband got hurt? Is he okay?
Shopkeeper: Him? Are you talking about how he got scratched by a cat?
Little An: Huh? A cat?
Nagi: I heard that his hand was wrapped in bandages. Does that mean...?
Shopkeeper: Oh, that. He wouldn't stop whining, so I decided to wrap up his hand like a mummy.
Shopkeeper: I mean, he's a grown man for crying out loud. But he wouldn't stop complaining about this tiny cut on the back of his hand.
Nagi: Haha! I had no idea!
Little An: Thank goodness...! He always likes to listen to me sing, so I was really worried when I didn't see him yesterday!
Shopkeeper: Thank you both for being so kind, Nagi, An.
Shopkeeper: Still, you two are so close. I see you all the time together. You're almost like sisters.
Nagi: Sisters...? That seems like a stretch considering how much older I am than her.
Nagi: And you treat me like your own daughter because you've known me since I was little... But remember, I'm all grown up now.
Little An: What? If you're such a grown-up, Aunt Nagi, why'd you take my snacks away from me?
Shopkeeper: Oh? Have you been a naughty girl, Nagi?
Nagi: No, you're getting the wrong idea! I won them from her fair and square!
Nagi: Also, An, you agreed to our little bet knowing what could happen. No takesies-backsies!
Little An: Grr... But you said you'd double what I had if I won...
Nagi: It's your own fault for getting greedy.
Nagi: Also, I only took half and gave you the rest, didn't I? See, I did the grown-up thing!
Little An: How does that count as being a grown-up?!
Shopkeeper: Haha! You two really are inseparable.
Shopkeeper: Why don't you two stay for some snacks? It'll be my way of thanking you both for showing so much concern for my husband.
Little An: Wow, really?!
Nagi: Just mention snacks and it's hook, line and sinker...
Little An: Hmph. You're not getting any, Aunt Nagi.
Nagi: Oh, don't say that. Same offer. I'll double what you get if you beat me at rock paper scissors.
Little An: I'm not falling for that again.
Little An & Nagi: Hehe...
Little An & Nagi: Haha!
Kohane: An...?
Akito: We're gonna leave you behind if you keep spacing out like that.
An: Wait, sorry. I was just reminiscing a bit!
Toya: About Nagi?
An: Yeah. Oh, you gotta hear about the time she...

Weekend Garage
An: Get home safe, guys.
Kohane: *Nod* See you tomorrow... No, wait. We're not having practice tomorrow, are we?
An's Father: You all fought pretty hard against Taiga, right? You need to give your throats a chance to recover.
Akito: We will.
Toya: Now, if you'll excuse us.
Kohane: See you later, An!
An: Okay! See you!
Taiga: ♪————————————!!
An: ...!
An: (We need to get back on our feet!)
An's Father: Hey, here's your coffee.
An: Okay, thanks.
An's Father: Are you sure you don't want tea instead?
An: No, I feel like coffee today.
An: *Sigh* This is nice.
An's Father: Oh, there she is.
An's Father: Sorry for calling you so suddenly. I know you're busy.
An's Mother: It's okay. This is important.
An: Mom...?
An's Mother: An...
An's Mother: Your eyes are bloodshot... And, did you lose your voice?
An: Oh... Haha. Yeah, kinda...
An: So, what's up? You hardly ever come here.
An's Mother: You heard about Nagi, right?
An: ...
An: Yeah.
An: Which means... Mom, you also knew?
An's Mother: Yes... I'm sorry about keeping quiet this whole time...
An: It's okay... Dad explained why no one told me.
An: And what Aunt Nagi was thinking.
Nagi: Because I believe in what I said.
Nagi: If anyone's going to succeed us, I'm absolutely positive that An will be one of those people.
An: So...
An: So, it's okay...!
An's Mother: Then, did you hear about this...?
An's Mother: Nagi always said she wanted to be the cool big sister you could always count on and look up to.
An: What...?
An's Mother: Taiga kept laughing at her that you were more like her daughter because she was so much older than you.
Nagi: But being my daughter would mean I'd have to actually be responsible for her, wouldn't it? I don't think that kind of relationship suits us.
Nagi: I'm going to be more like her friend or buddy... Ooh, or we can be a pair of sworn sisters who like to stir things up!
Nagi: We both love this city and want to do everything together. We want to see what this world has to offer.
Nagi: And I think that An and I will, together!
An: Aunt Nagi...
Shopkeeper: Still, you two are so close. I see you all the time together. You're almost like sisters.
Nagi: Sisters...? That seems like a stretch considering how much older I am than her.
Nagi: Oh, don't say that. Same offer. I'll double what you get if you beat me at rock paper scissors.
Little An: I'm not falling for that again.
Little An & Nagi: Hehe...
Little An & Nagi: Haha!
An: ...
An's Mother: ... An, it's okay. Just let it all out...
An: But...!
An: I... I'm not stopping...!
An's Mother: You've become so strong...
An's Mother: Have you ever heard the saying about how the tears of mourners help flowers grow in heaven?
An's Mother: For every mourner, a flower blooms up above for their loved one. In other words, the more mourners, the more flowers.
An's Mother: Nagi was supposed to rest on a great bed of flowers...
An's Mother: But we chose to respect her wishes. We chose to deprive her of that...
An: ...
An's Mother: So, An... It's okay for you to cry now.
An's Mother: Don't feel bad about crying. You have every right to, considering just how much you loved her.
Nagi: An, over here!
An: *Sob*
Little An & Nagi: Haha!
An: *Sob*
An: *Cry*
An: Aunt Nagi...!
An: I...! I wish we could've talked more!
An: And stood on stage together...!
An's Mother: I know, dear... I would've loved to see that as well...
An's Father: *Sigh*
An's Father: (Let it all out... For me. For all of us...)
An: *Cry*
