Side Story 1


Weekend Garage
An: Oh, finally. Over here!
An: I forgot to mention this during school, but thanks for helping me out yesterday.
Akito: It was about us as a team, so it's fine.
Toya: Exactly.
Toya: So have you spoken to Azusawa about us entering into STAY GOLDEN again?
An: Not yet because I plan on telling her in person. We can bring it up with her once she gets here.
Akito: Alright.
An: But STAY GOLDEN. It's already that time of year again, huh?
An: You guys sort of just dropped it on me yesterday, but I am starting to think it's a good opportunity for us.
Akito: See? This sort of thing's also what you and Kohane are good at, right?
Akito: You surprised us once already so...
An: Huh? Ohh...

Kohane: We have the resolve.
Kohane: So I won't run away anymore!


An: We're the Vivids! Did everyone enjoy the show?!
An: We may be new at this, but one day we're going to throw an event that'll surpass even RAD WEEKEND! We hope you'll be there to support us!
An: Yeah, that time...!
Toya: I felt the same way that time too, but Azusawa really has been improving at an astonishing rate.
Akito: Yeah, and we're not about to just let her leave us behind.
An: I know.
An: Man, I've been here this whole time thinking I know so much about Kohane...
Akito: But we don't have a choice since that's how she feels.
An: Still...
Toya: Wait, didn't you say that you talked to MEIKO about this before coming to us?
Toya: How did that go?
An: Um... She said Kohane the kind of person that likes to see the good in others.
An: And that she should believe in the good within herself.
Akito: The good within yourself, huh? If someone told me that, I probably wouldn't know where to start...
Akito: I mean, the good you see in others is sort of what you're missing yourself, right?
Akito: It might be easier to think about it the other way around like, Why can't I do what that other guy can?
Toya: ...
An: Hmm... Yeah, this is a tough one.
An: Oh, why don't we come up with as many good things as we can about her and tell her about them?
Akito: Huh?
An: We can make it easier for Kohane to see the good in her if we just tell her about just how awesome she is!
Toya: I see. I understand the general idea of what you're trying to do.
An: Yes! Okay, how about...?
An: First, she's obviously the best partner ever! Second, she's like this adorable little animal that becomes a super cool singer when she gets up on stage!
An: And it's so cute how she nibbles on her food or leaves the things she likes most for last! Also...
Akito: ...
An: Why are you making that face?
Akito: You started with stuff that could be said about anyone and ended by just saying how cute she is...
Toya: You may want to be more objective and describe her using a more diverse vocabulary.
An: Hmm... More objective, and a diverse vocabulary...
An: Wait, why don't you guys try telling her instead of me?
Akito: If it ever comes up.
An: Hey, she's your teammate too. Help her out, alright?
Akito: Again, if it ever comes up.
Akito: I mean, how would you feel if we just started ranting and raving about what we like about you?
An: How would I feel...?
Akito: See?
Toya: In Azusawa's case, she may feel happy for a moment but also startled or surprised at the same time.
Akito: Dude, there's no one out there that would just take random compliments seriously.
An: Right...
An: So I guess that means kicking butt at STAY GOLDEN's the best way to go then...
Kohane's voice: Hello.
An: Oh, it's Kohane!
Toya: Okay, like we planned. Talk about STAY GOLDEN.
An: Got it!
An: (Alright, this is an event I want to get back at too...!)
An: (And I have to support my partner in whatever ways I can! Especially now!)

Side Story 2


Street SEKAI
Miku: Welcome, everyone.
An: You're gonna help us with practice, right, Miku? You won't be disappointed!
Miku: I know I won't. By the way, where's Kohane?
Akito: She's busy taking care of animals for her committee, so she's gonna be late.
Miku: Okay. We have some time until she gets here I suppose.
An: Oh, Miku, I almost forgot...!
An: We did another STAY GOLDEN and kicked its butt like I said we would!
An: I wish you were there to see it! Especially how Kohane did!
An: Yeah, she was just something else. So good that I almost forgot to sing my own part!
Miku: I see. That must've been incredible.
Akito: ...
Toya: Akito, what's wrong?
Akito: Nah, it's nothing.
An: I have to think Kohane feels a lot better about herself after what she pulled off...
An: I think I was finally able to actually support her as her partner.
Miku: Yes, I think so too.
An: But there's a part of me that keeps saying that I would've been able to do this sooner if I had my priorities straight, you know?
Miku: I'm not sure about that.
Miku: It was probably going to be a long process after she took up street music and met all of you guys, you know?
An: Wait, what do you mean?
Miku: Kohane began singing because of you, An, correct?
Miku: That means what she knows about your world is entirely based on what you know, right?
An: What I know equals what she knows...?
Miku: Yes. Especially what it means to sing well...
Miku: Your singing ability was her starting point. Thus, I thought that it would be a long process for her no matter what.
Miku: As a result, even though she kept improving, she wasn't able to feel confident about herself until now.
An: Oh, I see...
Akito: So that's why her idea of what counts as good felt so off sometimes?
An: Wait, really?!
Toya: Yes. For example, what we practice each day. Currently, Azusawa works on a list of things we prepared for her...
Toya: It's mostly just about fundamentals, but that workload also isn't something your average novice can handle.
An: Right... But she was doing all sorts of stuff even before you guys set that up for her, right?
Akito: Yeah. She seemed eager to do more, so we slowly gave her more and more things to work on...
Akito: Does she even know how heavy her workload actually is?
Miku: Hehe. I knew it.
An: Really? But...
Toya: But it's true. Conversely, she may be under the impression that she's not doing enough.
Toya: It also doesn't help that she's seen Akito and I handle even heavier loads.
An: So Miku was right. Kohane thinks this is normal because of us...?!
Miku: Correct.
An: Geez...
An: She just kept getting better and better, and just brushed off what we practiced like it was nothing so I never really thought about it...
An: But she really thinks this is just how things are.
Akito: Does that make her some kind of glee monster?
Toya: Maybe.
An: Can't you call her something a little nicer?
Miku: But someone told her that she needs to commit and have more confidence in herself, right?
An: Oh...
An: Right. It'll be better for Kohane if she figured that out on her own, huh?
Miku: She may've been so desperate to catch up with you guys that she never gave herself a chance to see how she was doing...
Miku: For better or worse, her world, her SEKAI is only about Vivid BAD SQUAD right now.
Miku: It also means that you guys mean that much to her, so I suppose it may not be as closed off as I'm saying it may be...
Miku: But in your world, that's not the case, right?
Miku: I think it's great how she's performing in events and singing all on her own now.
Akito: Wasn't that just about getting more experience and stuff?
Miku: Yes, and I believe that she benefitted in that way as well.
Miku: But I think her gaining some independence gave her an opportunity to see your world through her own eyes and not just yours.
An: Through her own eyes...
Miku: Just as her meeting you, An, and becoming interested in the street music scene opened doors for her...
Miku: Meeting others will also start opening doors for her.
Miku: I don't know who this person is, but the advice they gave her might end up being one of the best things that's happened to her, no?
An: Right... Yeah, that totally makes sense!
An: (Oh, that reminds me...)
An: (I promised to ask about who that person was, but never really got around to it.)
Akito: Okay, where is she...?
An: She does seem to be running very late. Maybe we should call her...?
An: Wait... Crap! She messaged me earlier.
An: <I'm hurrying but it's still gonna take me a while, so please start without me.>
Toya: Then let's do that.
An: Yeah. I'll tell her that she can take her time and doesn't have to rush.
